I can hardly believe the spectacle we're witnessing, and it's only improving 🤯 I captured this image on January 18 during twilight at the ESO Paranal Observatory in the Atacama Desert, Chile. The comet sets later each night, offering exceptional imaging opportunities. Visually, its tail stretches an impressive 10-12 degrees. Therefore, I adjusted the focal length down to 85 mm to capture the full extent.

‼️✨ The crescent Moon setting over the Pacific Ocean was a breathtaking sight ! I captured this image a few days ago using my Samsung S25 Ultra smartphone from the Atacama Desert in Chile. The colors were absolutely stunning, creating such a serene scene 😃 Earthshine is clearly visible, adding to the magic. That’s another good example of smartphone astrophotography 👍

The 'Wolf Moon' over the 6.5-m Magellan telescope in #Atacama #desert in #Chile. To get to the imaging location we had to drive quite a bit in a 4x4 truck through the rugged desert terrain. But the view was absolutely worth it ! This is not aurora ! This is so called airglow - atmospheric light emission, while aurora is caused by solar particles. I captured this image from high altitude planes in Bolivia at the elevation of ~4000 m. I intentionally didn’t push noise reduction too much to get a better feeling of how the data look like. This is a panoramic image taken from a tripod.
