I'm all for cutting gov't waste, but what are we doing touching the NWS/NOAA budget...
Cutting money from such a VITAL program that costs ~$3/yr per person in the U.S. is ridiculous and will likely have major repercussions.
We need to SPAM these people.

A PDS-warned anti-cyclonic tornado this close to a radar site in an area that was under no tornado risk this morning???
Yeah, this case will be studied for years.
Every time I see EF5 discourse I think about the paper that was released this January that stated if we lowered the EF5 threshold to 190mph, the climatology of EF5s would be consistent since the 1880s.
Caught at least 6 tornadoes throughout parts of Eastern Nebraska and Southern Iowa today. Career day. Videos coming out later. @ryanhallyall@ReedTimmerUSA@caseysgenstore
"Quad-State Tornado" supercell from birth to death. Over 330 miles trekked from birth at 3:42pm C in Arkadelphia, AR to around Fordsville, KY at 11:36pm C. In total just under 8 hrs of life; along the way it affected the towns of Jonesboro AR, Hayti MO, Mayfield KY and many more.
I am devastated to share that the love of my life, Gizmo, has passed away at the age of 17. We shared so many memories and storm chasing adventures together especially over the last 15 years. Gizmo chased over 200 tornadoes, category 5 hurricanes, and loved me unconditionally through some very hard times across hundreds of miles. We chased through the pandemic on fast-food living out of the Subaru. She beat cancer, ticks, flash floods, and was inside of a tornado with a broken leg / peg leg cast. She visited 48 states, dozens of National Parks, three Canadian provinces and was loved by many storm chasers. This will be a very difficult time
Broyles's OMEGA project is literally incredible. If you haven't already, check out their paper.
People joke about Broyles and how aggressive he is on forecasting sometimes, but he truly knows exactly what he's doing.
Oklahoma tornado days:
Step 1: uptrend a bunch right before the day
Step 2: HRRR shows isolated cells in afternoon leading up to event
Step 3: high clouds cover the state
Step 4: no daytime sig tors
Step 5: random nighttime viotor
Caught 2 or 3 separate photogenic tornadoes in SW Iowa earlier this afternoon. I also got great footage of the 2nd tornado I saw. @ryanhallyall@IAStormChasing#IAwx
Are there any tornadoes/storms that you believe you have the best/only picture of?
I was the only chaser who witnessed this storm at this point near Leon, Iowa on June 7th, 2022.
Unfortunately, last night I lost my first glass on a chase. I didn't realize the bridge was out to my east, so I ended up having to make a quick escape north as the storm was moving SE, and the S road wouldn't have gotten me out in time. I'm very glad I turned around and only got the back window and my left mirror broken.
Tornado photos to come a bit later.
I will also be making a video detailing my chase and decisions this week.
Today I did a presentation explaining to 5th graders how to safely storm chase, spot tornadoes on radar, and protect themselves from tornadoes. I also gave away a weather radio and taught them about wearing helmets when taking cover as I learned from @spann at the Iowa NWA Conference. Very satisfying to teach them general weather safety and possibly bring up the next generation of (smart & safe) chasers!
8 bags of cotton, 2 cans of spray adhesive, and 4 hours later... My bedroom ceiling is now covered with clouds! Live streaming just got more interesting! @ReedTimmerAccu@ryanhallyall
