We have ordered 32,000 pounds of ice for the race this weekend. With 320 runners and 20 aid stations, that works out to 5 pounds of ice per runner per aid station.

Congrats to Denis Trafecanty, 78, for finishing Javelina in 29:31 and getting his WS qualifier. He won a raffle spot last December and just needed a qualifier to enter the 2021 race.
2018 race day high temperature in Auburn was 98F. 9th hottest in 45 years. We gave out 123 silver buckles and 176 bronze buckles for a total of 299 finishers out of 369 starters and a 81% finish rate.
And in 29:55:31, the final finisher of the 2022 Western States Endurance Run is Nanette Banoun.

As we approach the final days of trail work before the race, the total volunteer effort so far this year has been ~150 unique volunteers putting in over 2600 hours. What a community effort. If you did work on the @wser trail this year you made a difference.

Because we were below our 369 average starters in 2021, we have reached an agreement with the USFS to start 385 runners in 2022, 380 in 2023, 375 in 2024, and then back to 369 in 2025.
