How much distance should you leave between your car & the one in front of you at a stoplight?
Virginia law doesn't regulate it, but traffic safety experts recommend at least far enough away to see the rear tires of the other vehicle. It could prevent a chain reaction crash.
At 23 mph, the risk of death for a pedestrian struck is 10%...
At 42 mph, it's 50%...
At 58 mph, it jumps to 90%.
