What’s it like for a normal hack golfer to play Augusta National? 2 years ago I got the unbelievable honor of playing the home of the Masters with a member. I still pinch myself. So what did I shoot? Let me take you on a hole by hole journey from the member tees:

It took Bryson 16 days to make a hole in one over his house. He gave a fan 7 hours to make the same 95 yard shot for $100,000. The fan made it on his 5th swing. 🤯 So cool.

Gotta give Bryson credit. He has figured it out. This is great! Most players made the post 18 walk with a head nod and strolled by. Bryson gave the fans what they want. Some acknowledgement. He even missed a kid and went back to make right. I guarantee every one of these fans are now Bryson fans.

This insane super slow motion video of Scottie Scheffler’s swing has my head spinning. The top position is madness. I never noticed just how insane his width is. His left arm actually bends a lot. The crazy right foot jump is still insane, but it comes later than you think. Basically nobody teaches this swing, but I don’t think you can. He has personal physical traits that make this all possible.

The greatest sports commercial ever made. Rory grew up idolizing Tiger. Both fairly and unfairly, he has been compared to him. Over the last decade, the weight of underachievement has only grown. To have 4 majors so young and then no more is simply stunning. Today he can finally join a club that only Tiger has joined in the last 50 years. The Grand Slam club. With Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, and Tiger Woods. The smallest of clubs. With a win today, Rory can rightly take seat at the table next to Tiger. His career becomes one of the greatest of all time. Today Rory can complete a journey started long ago. And we all get to bear witness. Go Rory.

Wherever you are on the course or locker room or restaurant, you stop and pay tribute to fallen soldiers. Then 13 bell tolls, one for each fold of the flag given to the families of fallen soldiers. “This is not a fulfilling life”. Some people took that as meaning Scottie doesn’t care or that golf isn’t important to him. It’s the opposite. Scottie cares more about this par putt while up 7 strokes than you have ever cared about anything. So what does he mean? After he wins, he is on to his family and the grind of practice. The journey fulfills him, the win itself is the result and that feeling doesn’t last. It’s easy to see why he keeps dominating. The grind is what he loves.

🚨Breaking from Bethpage 🚨 This is from an insider who was on premise all week at Bethpage. 100% verified. This person wants it known that it wasn’t just pairings and setup. Team USA simply didn’t prepare! Why did Team USA start off seemingly lost? Why couldn’t they read a green for two days? How was Europe so ready? Is it so simple that Team USA barely played Bethpage Black, while Team Europe played it over and over? Imagine how much better they would know the course with 7-8 plays versus 1-2 plays for the Americans. This is hugely embarrassing. We have all been focused on the setup and pairings, rightly. But if this is accurate, Team USA simply didn’t play the course they were playing for the Cup enough! This person gave permission for me to release this info. He/She wants it known how unserious the USA team took this event. There is real anger that the USA Team presents that they are 100% invested, when in reality that’s not true. Or at least they didn’t prepare like it’s a major. If this is true, I’m pissed and all team USA fans should be pissed.

The unsung MVP of the Europe Ryder Cup team: Edoardo Molinari. Listen to this. It is worth your minute. And it’s VERY embarrassing for the USA team. Contrast this to what Scottie said: That he and Henley decided to change their playing order based on their first round. It wasn’t pre determined by data. When I say that Keegan and the PGA failed, this is such an easy example. We simply do not set up our players with any advantage. Whereas Europe is finding every single tiny edge they can get. And Dodo uses the same analytics to determine course setup. You can bet Adare Manor in 2027 will be setup to make us look as bad as possible. Do you think he would send out Morikawa/English twice? 🙄 The Euro team is starting each event with a 2 point lead thanks to this man.

Is there a better case against a shotgun style championship format than what we just watched at The Players? Leave the LIV vs PGA out of it, just the actual logic here. In a shotgun, Scottie would have finished on hole 3 today!! 😢 A golf course is designed with a cadence. The 16-18 stretch at Sawgrass is as good as it gets. It’s meant to be the finish, where the pressure builds all day and you step up to 17 with everything on the line. The golf world focused on the final groups today. The pressure builds, you can actually focus on what’s happening and get the context of the situation. When guys are whacking it all over the course, that’s impossible. Watching someone read and line up their pressure packed putt is awesome. I’m at the point I don’t care who wins the “war”. But I do want a golf course to be played in the order it was designed and it seems painfully obvious that it’s the right way to go.

Golf is unfair part #273 I’ve seen plenty of golf balls hit flags and have bad things happen. But this is absolutely absurd. Anirban Lahiri hits the perfect iron right at the pin. Great shot. Far from the water. Brutal game we love. nitter.app/livgolf_league/status/…

When we talk about the awful fans at Bethpage, it’s this guy. Calls Rory a little fa****. This isn’t tough, this is cowardice at its best. The heckler knows he is protected. He hides behind the crowd and that he can’t just be punched in the face.

It’s easy to write off the PGA tour “silly season”. Camilo Villegas lost his young daughter to cancer 3 years ago. He hadn’t won in 9 years. Didn’t have a full tour card for next year. Now he’s a winner again. Amazing.

Try to comprehend these Trackman numbers: 165 MPH Swing Speed 246 MPH Ball Speed Long drive pro Seb Twadell is insane. Watch it once, then again focusing on his lead foot at impact . 🤯 Then watch again focusing on his trail arm in the backswing. 🤯 Then again on the club shaft and face. 🤯 Truly insane things the human body can do when pushed hard enough!

This is so embarrassing. What are we doing? Cheer lessons!!! Maybe if they didn’t charge $750 a ticket they could have gotten some loud fans who know how to cheer. Bethpage is the people’s course. But they didn’t invite the people.

There are a lot of complaints about how the best golf in the USA is out of reach. Private and/or expensive. So I checked. Here are all the top 100 courses that are public and under $200 peak season: Bethpage Black: $180 That’s it. That’s the list.

Bluejack National is known as the happiest place on earth for golfers. Tiger Woods first USA design and inspired by Augusta National, this private playground is truly about FUN! Let’s take a deep dive into a day at Bluejack:

Grace Kim needed Eagle on 18 to get into a playoff. And she hits it to a foot!!! Imagine if a man hit this shot. These girls are so damn good. (No, I’m not “woke”. I just recognize badassery.)

Xander wins in Japan! His first PGA Tour victory since The Open and a victory in his grandparents homeland. His post putt celebration was perhaps a bit reckless, he needs to tone it down a bit.

Ok, it’s time to talk about Rory McIlroy. After winning the Masters, everyone thought he’d play with less weight on him. He said so himself. Since then, he’s been a baby with the media and seemingly is angrier than ever. What the f is going on?

A guy drives into you on a generally non-drivable par 4, ball rolls onto your green. Do you: A: Get quietly mad B: Nod your head in respect C: Throw the ball back
Rory just drove the 14th green at Kingsbarns (while Bob MacIntyre was putting out). The hole is 390 yards long.

Let me give you a wild alternate timeline of yesterday’s Masters. Patrick Reed missed the playoff by 2 shots. On 13, he had this 3 foot putt for birdie. He would somehow 3 putt, a 2-shot swing. In the alternate evil timeline, he makes this, goes into the playoff, and beats Rory. Yassir buys him a yacht. Justine finally gets luxury seats to a baseball game. LIV takes over all of golf and EDM noises becomes our national anthem. Pants are outlawed and all golf becomes shotgun golf. Saved from all that because his putter face closed a degree!

Who has the most aesthetically pleasing golf swing in the game? My vote: Ms. Nelly Korda Best of the men might just be Jake Knapp. Talking pure vibes here.

TGL was good last night…but it really exposes the golfers personalities. If you have a personality, like JT or Horschel, it’s fun and it works. But Cam Young, Fitz, Fowler, Cantlay…just nothing. How do you fix that? We need Bryson and Spieth!

First, I was like “Dude, take a drop, this doesn’t end well.” Then I figured it was going in the water. Then I assumed the worst. Sprained wrist. Then…well, that was insane. Kind of a cool part of social media is normal human stuff like this gets seen.

What’s the greatest shot in Ryder Cup history? I know there are many to choose from, but this has to be up there. Jordan Spieth hit this impossibly high. Truly mind boggling. And then the run. 😂 Reply with your answer, bonus if you reply with video.

People love to talk about how golfers fall off after having a baby. Spieth, JT, Rickie etc… Scottie has been immune. If anything, he’s gotten better. Why? Because he isn’t trying to also do constant corporate cash grabs. God, fam, golf. That’s it.

This is awesome. Tiger Woods discussing Scottie Scheffler’s game and their similarities. It’s interesting he starts with misses. “We miss in the correct place.” Tiger and Scottie are the 2 best ball strikers in modern history…neither go flag hunting.

Ohoopee Match Club, ranked 34 in the Golf Digest Top 100, is truly one of a kind. With less than 100 members, it’s a tough invite to get. It’s very private and typically only 10-40 players walk it daily. So what’s it like? Why is it so special? Let’s take a deep dive:

Bryson DeChambeau and Steph Curry playing a 1v1 hoops game. Steph Curry is unfair. You should not be able to be a Hall of Fame basketball player and an elite golfer. Just too much skill. Props to Bryson for doing all this stuff. He’s not afraid to look silly against a legend. His content is truly fun and interesting and he seems to never run out of energy.

This golf course has a drive thru halfway house! Yay or nay? I say heck yeah. If you are a cart course, then let’s just speed up play. Halfway houses are often horribly designed and run, adding 10-15 minutes to every round. So if on carts anyway, just go all in. Traditionalists aren’t going to be happy anyway, so who cares. Let’s keep the round moving! The course is Shaker Ridge in Ny. 🎥 @GolfDigest
