"...there should never, ever, be any medical intervention to 'solve' a psychological difficulty."
Way back in my timeline I did a very detailed thread on what a proper systemic assessment of a child should look like.
In summary, assuming GD were real (which it isn't) and that professionals really wanted to determine whether a child had it, the assessment should take a multidisciplinary team about 18 months and should include:
1. The index child.
2. Their parents.
3. Their siblings.
4. Their school.
5. Their wider family and friendship networks.
Even with all that, there should never, ever, be any medical intervention to 'solve' a psychological difficulty.
(FNGD is the ONLY 'diagnosis' in the entire DSM-5 whose 'treatment' requires the removal of healthy tissue and body parts.)
Also, a fundamental tenet of psychology is that we do not give certain diagnoses to individuals still in the 'developmental period', ie under 18.
Thus, a 14 year old say, cannot be given a formal diagnosis of Psychopathy (or Antisocial Personality Disorder).
This is because we recognise the brain has not reached full maturity and that there is still much scope for change and development.
Dr Johanna Olson Kennedy-Mengele knows this.
But she got so carried away with her power and feelings of invulnerability that she acted with cavalier disregard for the safety of her young patients.
Well the chickens are now coming home to roost.
I hope she is sued to oblivion.
But that's not sufficient redress. This crazy beeeatch deserves a long, long, prison sentence.
For crimes against humanity.
Just like the Nazi doctors.
