Happy one-year anniversary! A year ago today, Parliament rushed through unprecedented powers for the Carney Liberals to go around every law and regulation to fast-track big projects and build “at speeds not seen in generations”. How many projects have been approved using those powers? Zero. How many are waiting for federal approval? 500. It is all an illusion.

Carney and Eby are now blaming each other for their condo bailout. The bottom line is that the Liberals and the NDP inflated a housing bubble. The bubble has burst. The Liberals did not listen to Canadians on Bill C-9. Instead, they proposed changes that sowed fear and uncertainty in the very communities the legislation is meant to protect.

Today we remember the 329 lives lost in the Air India bombing, Canada’s deadliest terrorist attack, and honour all those whose lives have been forever changed by acts of terror. Their memory remains in our thoughts, and their stories will not be forgotten.

After a year in office, Canadians are still asking: where are the results? Higher housing costs. Record household debt. The only G7 country in recession. Canadians deserve better.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family, friends, and colleagues of Montreal Police Officer Mohamed Lamine Benredouane, who tragically lost his life in the line of duty, and to the family and loved ones of Michael Mizrahi, an innocent civilian.

I was pleased to attend the University of Alberta Spring Convocation and celebrate the achievements of this year's graduates. Congratulations to the Class of 2026, and best wishes for the future!

Keeping Canadians safe should be this government's top priority. Conservatives will continue fighting for stronger crime laws and justice for victims.
