Sixty-three years after Dr. King challenged America to live up to its promise, we are once again being called to defend that promise.
At a time when voting rights are under attack, districts are being redrawn to weaken our voices, economic uncertainty continues to burden working families, gun violence devastates our communities, immigrants and vulnerable families face growing uncertainty, and too many still wait for equal justice under the law, we cannot afford to stand on the sidelines.
This is not the time for silence. It is the time to organize. To mobilize. To march.
On Friday, August 28, we will gather at the Lincoln Memorial for the March on Washington to Defend the Vote. Together, we will stand to protect our democracy, defend our civil rights, and continue the work of those who marched before us.
Their struggle made this moment possible. Our commitment will help shape what comes next.

I’m deeply saddened to announce the passing of my father, Al Sharpton, Sr. Our relationship was complicated, but he was still my father. Over the past 18 years, I was able to work through my pain and feelings of abandonment, and we built a relationship that meant a lot to me. Born and raised in Jim Crow Florida, he later came to NYC and became a successful entrepreneur. Though his weaknesses may have cost him, he instilled in my sister and me (and later our other siblings) a mentality of independence and self-pride. I've learned from my own mistakes and from his. May my Daddy rest in peace.

I believe we should all set our emotions aside and take a calculated review to protect our civil, voting, and women’s rights.

In 2020, we demanded justice for George Floyd in Minneapolis. Governor Walz listened to our calls and appointed Attorney General Ellison to lead the investigation. This showed me he is a man who listens and acts in the best interests of his constituents. A year later, we saw justice for George Floyd.
We can trust Governor Walz to bring the same openness as Kamala Harris’s vice president. He will be a reliable partner as she leads the nation. Governor Walz has shown he isn’t afraid to confront those who seek to move our country backward, which will help us move forward.
