🤝 New Collaboration
The Royal Dublin Society, with a new strategy to create a more sustainable and prosperous future for generations to come, is excited to announce a new collaboration with Trinity College Dublin, Ireland’s leading university. This collaboration is set to create synergies that will recognise Irish businesses, entrepreneurs and innovators making a positive difference in meeting the #climatechange challenge.
The collaboration between the RDS and @tcddublin marks a significant milestone in both organisations commitment to highlighting the benefits of the #circulareconomy. By combining strengths, expertise, and resources, the two organisations aim to push circular models into the spotlight and help inspire a new generation of innovation leaders, while growing awareness and support with consumers to buy products created with circular principles. The circular economy provides a key solution for our waste crisis, but it also makes solid economic sense, as we face into a future where we must maximise the resources available to us.
The RDS Deputy Chief Executive of the Foundation, Ms Niamh De Loughry, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, "This collaboration is a testament to our shared vision of highlighting best practice and solutions which will energise more organisation’s to do the same. We believe the national circular economy awards scheme will highlight and celebrate those organisations and their leaders who seek to achieve new heights and bring innovative circular economy solutions to the market that, were in many instances, previously unimaginable."

Situated in the heart of Dublin, Leinster House has a rich and fascinating history that falls naturally into three distinct phases. The house was initially built from 1745 as the private residence of the Fitzgeralds, Earls of Kildare, and from 1766, the Dukes of Leinster. In 1792 it became the model for the first White House, designed by Kilkenny architect and former Dublin Society Drawing Schools pupil James Hoban.
In 1815 it passed into the ownership of the Royal Dublin Society where it served as the Society’s offices, meeting house and museum, library and drawing school, which went on to form the foundation of the National Museum of Ireland, the National Library of Ireland and the National College of Art & Design. Finally, since 1922, Leinster House has been the home of the Houses of the Oireachtas, the parliament of Ireland.
You can now explore the history of this iconic building through a new digital exhibition curated by the RDS Library & Archives in collaboration with the Irish Architectural Archive and the James Hoban Societies of Ireland and the United States.
The exhibition illustrates the many lives of this historic building and provides an insight into the early years of the RDS and the Houses of the Oireachtas. It is composed of architectural drawings of Leinster House kindly loaned by the Irish Architectural Archive and the Office of Public Works, as well as drawings and images from the collections of the RDS Library & Archives.
The RDS is a social impact organisation, and continues to play a vital role as a catalyst in the cultural, social, and economic prosperity of Ireland today.
