I distinctly knew the age of the ICE vehicle was over the moment I drove my first Tesla. Note: I said drove my first Tesla, not my first ride in a Tesla.
My Dad purchased a Model S back in 2017. It was a Metallic Blue 75 RWD. The sleekness, quality, software, and screens were impressive. Autopilot was amazing at the time.
But not impressive enough for me to connect the dots. Until one day, when he needed to borrow our SUV for a few days, he offered me his Tesla in exchange.
That’s when it all changed. The literal lightbulb moment. Sitting in the driver's seat and experiencing the lagless drivetrain, visceral power, lack of shifting , and overall handling, to name a few.
Then reality hits. Gas cars are obsolete. Not obsolete in that EVs are 100% able to replace them, or that everyone should run and buy one, but the future was crystal clear.
Fast forward to 2025, and most of my family and extended family are in Teslas. Not sold by some fancy marketing or advertising campaign, but by butts in seats and word of mouth.
If you have never actually driven a Tesla, manually or on FSD, I’m sorry, but you just don’t understand. This is not an exercise in spec comparisons and use cases.
Why are so many Tesla owners passionate about the vehicles? Because it’s not just the vehicles, it's the overall experience. Go get yourself in the driver's seat, and then you’ll get it too.
