🌸mental health reminder🌸 Living with chronic mental illness is really tough, especially when you’re a very driven, generally happy and outgoing person. Whether it’s over-exhaustion, neglecting my self care, not having time for my routines and diet and/or life events putting more stress and pressure on my life - a lot of things can throw off mental stability for someone with chronic illness. In my case, it’s not a mood, it’s clinically treated ptsd + whatever life is throwing at me on top of it all. I’d argue I’m much healthier and more capable to communicate and treat my mental health issues than most “healthy” or “normal” people are at managing basic stress or temporary mental health issues - trashing on your body, toxic relationships, toxic habits etc. and justifying it all with emotion or stress is not cute to me, it’s lazy. Mental hygiene effects us all, and oftentimes those of us who have to really work at it, get throw under the bus first when shit hits the fan. Well I’d rather be mentally unstable because I’m “crazy” than lazy. I take it seriously and don’t gaf if it’s sexy. Whatever is happening in the space, your family or friends’ lives, work… it’s ok to say no to people. It’s ok to say I need time and space without always feeling you are letting people down. It’s ok to be angry and disappointed that some ppl will punish or judge you for it, disappear, or even see it as their chance to bond with and leverage you. Let that shit go. Your pace is your pace. Sometimes I’m unstoppable, sometimes I’m fragile af. What is not ok is to tell yourself how you feel doesn’t matter. I do it all the time, if I’m honest. I’m too busy, I’m still capable, no one will do it if I don’t, or whatever the reason is… If people judge you for taking time for your mental health or being transparent about your ability to show up for them (let alone yourself), fuck em. They’re not your people. You are loved, people do care, and you deserve to take up space and time when it’s not convenient for everyone or yourself. It’ll be ok. It’s your birthright!🧘🏻‍♀️🌅🪷🌸♥️🙏
