Well, what an awesome sight it was to see the full #HarvestMoon rising above the distant landscape from Lytham in Lancashire. This is the first of two full moons in October, and itโs called the Harvest moon because itโs the closest one to the #AutumnEquinox
I got the shot I wanted!!! #fullmoon#ColdMoon The last full moon of 2020, also known as the Cold Moon rising over the beautiful White Church at Lytham St Annes Lancashire.
I got my angles right for this shot of the almost full pink #Supermoon for April beyond Blackpool Tower from 3 miles away in the village of Staining Lancashire #FullMoon
My incredible capture of the Isle of Man, all the way from Winter Hill Lancashire. Look at the mind boggling compression of the IOM, the off shore wind turbines and Blackpool Tower. Captured 85 miles away from Snaefell, the highest point on the island. #StormHour#isleofman
Venus disappears behind the waning crescent moon ๐ this morning. Itโll reappear out the other end at about 10:30 or so. Look ๐ out for it!!! #moon
Very pleased that one of my images has been commended in the prestigious Landscape Photographer of the Year Awards. Titled โM62 The Penninesโ, it was a long exposure light trails shot I took back in January 2019 on a cold winterโs afternoon at sunset at Saddleworth Moor #LPOTY ๐ธ
Morning All! Well, what can I say but an absolutely jaw dropping #sunset last night on St Annes Beach in Lancashire. I didn't even go to catch this as I was there hoping for #Thunderstorms so I guess I should always expect the unexpected ๐๐๐
Here is #cometNEOWISE from Monday morning over Solomonโs Temple in Buxton Derbyshire. Luckily we got a break in the clouds after arriving to a blanketed sky. It was a bit windy up there too! #comet#NEOWISE
Ok here is how the Flower #supermoon for May looked this morning at 04:30hrs from Blackpool, setting over the Irish Sea beyond the famous North pier #moon#Benro
Did anyone spot the very slender waxing crescent moon this evening? Here is how it looked from Blackpool. The moon is just 5% illuminated here but will gradually become more illuminated over the next two weeks as it heads towards full moon on the 18th #moon

I was in Scotland, near Fort William and noticed this old wreck with Ben Nevis in the background, so I thought I'd take a quick pic while the light was nice. Ben Nevis is the highest mountain in all of Great Britain.
I managed to capture an astronomical phenomena from the English Lake District that is extremely rare to see because it needs the right timing, perfect conditions and an ultra dark sky. Zodiacal Light seen here over Coniston, early spring #StormHour#astrophotography#Cumbria
What a jaw dropping sight the #MilkyWay was last night over #Wales It was one of the clearest, darkest, and most incredible night skies I have ever seen in UK. This image of the #ISS crossing the sky over Anglesey was captured in astronomical twilight. #Nikon#Benro
Jaw dropping 200+ degree #MilkyWay panorama taken at Lizard Point #Cornwall Rising from the faint, outer regions on the left, to Cygnus above the Lighthouse & then down to Sagittarius and the galactic centre, lower right, above gift shop. #astrophotography#StormHour
Well I was storm chasing #Thunderstorms in Lancashire last night. The storms were out over the Irish Sea after passing over Merseyside, and it was mostly sheet #lightning The flashes lit up the angry clouds from within. Pleased to capture a fork over St Annes Pier #StormHour
Itโs a great time of the year to capture #MilkyWay panoramas, but unfortunately it is not possible this year due to #COVID19 unless you are lucky to live somewhere dark enough to capture them from home. Here are a few examples of mine #Nikon#Benro
RIP to our dear mother who passed away peacefully this morning at the age of 77 in Blackpool Victoria Hospital after a short illness. She leaves myself, who shared the same birthday, Melanie and Alan. Judith Cheatley 1944-2021.
Well, we had a wild wild day here in Blackpool, but the stormy weather didn't stop some hardy souls going out for a walk along the famous, wind swept promenade #ukweather#windy#StormHour#Lancashire
Some of my astro images from around the world ๐ 1) Glencoe Scotland 2) Bournemouth UK 3) Yellowstone Park USA 4) South Africa #Astrophotography#MilkyWay
Not a bad day for me in the papers. My #cometNEOWISE over Blackpool Tower dominated the pages. Five publications means I'm strictly comet dancing ๐๐๐ #NEOWISE#comet
Well Iโve been booked to go on BBC Radio Cumbria on Monday morningโs breakfast show to talk about my amazingly clear shot of the Lake District fells all the way from Blackpool #Cumbria
I took this picture of a shipwreck on Corpach Beach near Fort William in #Scotland In the background looms the mighty Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the British Isles.
Well the moon wasn't coming out to play tonight, so I thought I'd share some of my favourite moonrises & moonsets from the past few years #FlowerMoon#supermoon#StormHour
Check out this incredible #sunset we were treated to after a gloomy afternoon on Cockerham Sands #Lancashire We were just heading back home all sad & dejected when Boom! #StormHour
Another staggering long distance shot of #Blackpool this time from Winter Hill #Lancashire 500mm #Nikon Not #nikonz7 or #NikonMirrorless or #Mavic2Pro Look ๐ how flattened the perspective is. The Isle of Man is 85 miles away from the shooting position!
Wow! Incredibly clear day in Blackpool. Check out this shot looking towards the famous English #LakeDistrict The Old Man of Coniston clearly visible. Look carefully to see the Hoad Hill monument (centre right) which looks down over the town of Ulverston, Stan Laurel's birthplace
The International Space Station #ISS is back in our evening skies again, with high passes into early next week. Here is a shot I captured of the ISS as it passed over Lancashire and the M6 motorway #astronomy#NASA#ESA
For those who listened in to my appearance on BBC Radio Cumbria this morning, I mentioned my famous jaw dropping telephoto shot of the Isle of Man all the way from Winter Hill, with Blackpool Tower in the foreground. Here is that shot #isleofman#blackpool#manx#Cumbria
Well we are approaching the summer #solstice in the UK, and where I live in Lancashire it does not get very dark at night in June. Itโs a bit different on the south coast, where the twilight is not quite enough to drown out the #MilkyWay like here at #durdledoor#Dorset
Blackpool #sunset It's almost the time of year when a shot like this will be possible again. Maybe I can avoid the trees next time ๐ณ๐ณ๐ณ or are they ok? ๐ค
If you like dark, starry skies away from light pollution, it doesnโt get much better than the English Lake District. If you are lucky enough to get clear skies you might glimpse the amazing Milky Way #Cumbria#StormHour#astronomy#MilkyWay
Blackpool Tower and the Central Pier Big Wheel looking amazing lit up at dusk last night for the famous Illuminations ๐ก๐ก๐ข๐๐๐๐ผ Come and see us soon!
Iโve had this rather strange urge to see if I can get 5k followers in my 10th anniversary on Twitter. If you like these kind of images RT the hell out of this & see if I can do it. There will be a prize for one old, and one new follower if I hit my target by end of August.
