I am running as the @Conservative_BC MLA Candidate in Oak Bay - Gordon Head. I’m running because, simply put, the policies of David Eby’s NDP are not meeting the needs of British Columbians, especially those in Oak Bay – Gordon Head.” After 7 years of NDP rule we have higher debts, worse health care outcomes, a sputtering economy, rampant unaffordability, an out-of-control drug epidemic and a breakdown of public safety”. #bcpoli

Vaughn Palmer: “Eby is in danger of losing to Rustad, the premier would never have abandoned the carbon tax the way he did”. There’s only one way ensure the GAS TAX is AXED - elect @Conservative_BC on October 19. And @JohnRustad4BC as premier. Eby can’t be trusted - “he’s making it up as he goes along” and he’s clearly losing. Read Vaughn’s column▶️ vancouversun.com/opinion/col…

This is what I hear from voters: “We need to focus on safe streets. I don’t go downtown anymore” “I spent hours in the emergency room and I looked around and didn’t feel safe” “I still don’t have a doctor”. These are just a few of the comments I hear again and again. Yet, the other party will tell you everything is great and not to worry. We need change on October 19. I would be honoured to be your MLA in Oak Bay - Gordon Head. #bcpoli

“White hot anger “ with crocodile tears. David Eby was Attorney General from 2017 to 2022 and HE directed the prosecution. HE could have insisted violent criminals stay in jail to protect our families. HE is the person who advocated for handing out free drugs. Now he’s angry?! Over a problem he created?! If he’s crying, I bet they’re not tears of regret for his failed polices. Read: vancouversun.com/opinion/col… #bcpoli

BREAKING: I can now confirm that there is no doubt Victoria firefighter Josh Montgomery was suspended for one day without pay for openly opposing a “service hub” and unregulated consumption site in his residential family North Park neighbourhood. The information is contained in an internal document detailing information. Sources inform me the members of the fire department are angry at the suspension and believe the City of Victoria is seeking retribution. As a former City Councillor, I find the city’s statement “mayor and council have no role in the operational decisions of the Victoria Fire Department” to be a feeble attempt to shut down the growing anger over this despicable action. Time and time again City Manager, Jocelyn Jenkins told council that staff enact council’s policy and objectives. Also, it’s hard to believe the mayor was not informed or consulted on the discipline knowing the residents of North Park are already upset with the mayor’s brainchild. And now other first responders are reaching out with their own allegations of censorship over what they see on Pandora Avenue - not solely city employees. I predict this issue will get even more attention as the city and the Premier try to extinguish the anger. We must demand accountability. #yyjpoli #bcpoli #standwithJosh

When I began this journey to run as the MLA for Oak Bay - Gordon Head, never did I in my wildest imagination think I’d be sitting with a group of mothers listening to their fear for their children. The group - without exception - are angry and frustrated that they had to deal with warnings gangs infiltrating their children’s schools and the Greater Victoria School Board won’t allow police liaison officers to work in the schools And one mother incredulously told me she received a note telling her to have a Naloxone kit - is a temporary antidote to an opioid - at home if she has a sleep over. Gone from the normal political conversation were the issues traditionally associated with an election campaign, these were mothers doing what they do best - looking out for, and protecting their children. For these parents, worrying about illicit drugs and associated criminal activity has become the “new normal”. Except, it isn’t. It shouldn’t be. And we have the power to change that environment. The mums asked, “What can a provincial government do?” The answer comes in a couple of ways; don’t follow the same path as the current government and to set a new direction. It’s may sound like rhetoric, but the NDP took control of the school board and its ideology is not protecting our children. The head of the school board is the former Green candidate for Oak Bay- Gordon Head, so I have little faith the current candidate will advocate for the police liaison program. The provincial government did not step in and take action until an election was close. Even now we have no assurance the liaison program will be reinstated after the election. I promise as your MLA, I will advocate to change what’s happening and ensure the police liaison program is brought back to schools. I am happy to chat about this issue anytime. Having worked with Lisa Helps on council, I can honestly say she doesn’t like opinions that differ from her own. It’s, “My way or not at all” approach. As I watch David Eby, Helps fits in perfectly. My final thought, if you elect Helps, be afraid, be very afraid. #yyjpoli #bcpoli @Adam_Stirling

Here’s a thought: with the charges against those allegedly involved in the death of Matthew Perry from the use of drugs, why are we not seeing more charges against those who contribute to the death of hundreds of British Columbians? I am so tired of the misnomer of “safe supply”. It’s not “safe”, “controlled” perhaps. Likewise the term “safe injection” or “safe inhalation “ sites. They’re not safe, they’re supervised. Deaths still happen. It’s tragic and we need to up our focus on intervention and treatment. “Recovery” is a much better option. Lift people up and allow them to LIVE their best life. I’m sure @elenoresturko has an opinion on this. Let’s save lives rather than continue to add to a tragic statistic. #bcpoli nbcnews.com/news/us-news/kno…

BREAKING: BC Conservatives Condemn Chilling Retaliation Against Victoria Firefighter Mr. Montgomery was scheduled to speak as a representative of Victoria’s North Park neighbourhood at a town hall hosted last night by Tim Thielmann, Conservative Party of BC candidate for Victoria-Beacon Hill. But attendees learned from Stephen Andrew, a journalist and the event’s moderator that Mr. Montgomery had been forced to cancel and had just been suspended without pay for his letter to the Premier. “This is a man who risks his life to save ours. Every day. A man who’ll stand up for the safety of his children and his neighbours. And they want to make an example out of him simply for writing to his Premier? I don’t think so. The people of British Columbia won’t stand for this,” said Mr. Thielmann. In his letter, Mr. Montgomery asked the Premier to suspend a proposed drug consumption site that would service 300 unhoused people just 100 feet from where his young daughters, ages 4 and 6, play outside his house. Victoria firefighters now require a police escort to answer emergency calls on Victoria’s troubled 900 block of Pandora Avenue, the site where a paramedic was recently attacked and first responders swarmed by approximately 60 hostile street residents. A loaded 9mm handgun was recovered by police days later. “We demand an account. Was Mr. Montgomery’s suspension at the insistence of the Mayor or did it come from the Premier himself? Mr. Montgomery and B.C.’s first responders deserve an explanation and a formal apology for this outrageous and vindictive attack,” said Mr. Thielmann. “I’ve spent my entire legal career getting governments to consult. Plenty didn’t want to. But this is the first time I’ve seen a government that’d go after a man’s job simply because he wrote a letter with some tough questions. As a lawyer I’m shaking my head. As a father, I’m standing with Josh,” said Tim Thielmann. #bcpoli #yyj

Under Eby’s NDP criminals know they can get away with anything. Soft sentencing, revolving door justice, and lack of enforcement have made BC a haven for gang activity.  Eby is more interested in protecting criminals than in protecting families. •The Conservative Solution:  ◦Increase Funding for Law Enforcement: Immediate investment in law enforcement agencies to empower them to take the fight to the gangs and organized crime. ◦Harsher Penalties for Gang-Related Crimes: Implement strong legal consequences for gang members, ensuring they are kept off the streets and away from vulnerable communities. ◦End Revolving Door Justice: Reform the justice system to ensure that repeat offenders and violent criminals face real, lasting consequences. ◦Community Investment to Prevent Gang Recruitment: Provide funding to help at-risk communities and youth break free from the cycle of gang involvement through education, job training, and outreach programs. However - following her statement about Councillor Susan Kim’s actions to clearly question the sexual assaults on Jewish people & then mind bogglingly try to say she didn’t say that, is shameful. The furor over a firefighter being suspended for writing to the premier asking him to intervene and stop a homeless him and unregulated consumption site in his #Victoriabc neighbourhood isn’t over. Mayor Marianne Alto says she’s disappointed in BC NDP Premier David Eby for intervening in the discipline. Okay.. but where was she when the firefighter was suspended for criticizing HER pet project? Why didn’t SHE show some leadership? Why did she do everything behind closed doors, put the building behind a numbered company and didn’t trust or care about her community enough to have an open conversation with them before beginning on this journey? It is incredulous to me that Alto didn’t know the suspension was coming. .@CityOfVictoria Councillors sat idly by doing virtually nothing to protect citizens from the criminal behaviour on our streets. Now, we see repeated homicides, stabbings and violent assaults - yet all the city leaders can do is set up committees and consult. If the city’s own employees won’t venture into certain areas, how on earth does this mayor and council expect everyday citizens and tourists to do the same?! Yes, the mayor can point to the province. It has failed and is failing those living rough. We need intervention and treatment now! Not some platitudes and promises of future help. But the policies of this mayor and council are also largely to blame for what we are all experiencing. The province and city must take a firm stance and enforce accountability for violent acts - no matter how one lives. It’s time to act. #bcpoli #yyjpoli.

Dear Victoria voters, You must inform yourself of the underhanded manipulation by Councillors Matt Dell, Jeremy Caradonna . Dave Thompson, Krista Loughton and Susan Kim to give themselves a 25% pay increase. You need to know the facts of how Victoria Council salary ACTUALLY compares with other jurisdictions in BC and across Canada. The REAL information shows, before their money - grabbing vote, we were actually reasonable. A 2022 report said it should be reviewed once a term in the final year but by AN EXTERNAL committee. This was to avoid a conflict. These five councillors show they have little integrity, no respect for process or taxpayers and or no modicum of shame. October 2026 cannot come fast enough.

Well, it’s interesting that someone in a position of “climate authority” agrees with me that city leaders use the pandemic and “climate crisis” to advance political ideology. This MUST end. Thank you Andrew Weaver. #yyjpoli timescolonist.com/opinion/op…

Crime is up 41% and violent crime is up 40% in the Capital Region from 2017 to 2022 according to the government’s own statistics. But. of course, the mayor of Victoria and other BC NDP acolytes will probably tell you, what you see isn’t actually happening. 🤦‍♂️#bcpoli #yyjpoli
Do you feel crime is getting worse? The data shows BC cities top the list for highest crime rates in Canada. A Conservative government will restore law and order and keep our communities safe. #bcpoli

POLICE CHIEF ASSAULTED Will there be accountability or will it be deemed “not in the public interest”? We are watching carefully. Support @vicpdcanada @VicPD_Union @ChiefManak #yyjpoli #bcpoli
Five people were arrested after Chief Manak was assaulted while honouring Chantel Moore at the B.C. Legislature today. There were no physical injuries. Martha Martin, mother of Chantel Moore, calls the assault on @ChiefManak "Terrible & unacceptable." vicpd.ca/2021/09/18/five-arr…

In case we forget.. we still “really” have not seen a sincere and full apology from @CityOfVictoria Councillor Susan Kim for her offensive and antisemitic denial of sexual violence of Jewish people. She spoke, retweeted and signed an offensive letter as a representative of the City of Victoria. She brought shame and a an indelible stain on BC’s Capital. And then Mayor Marianne Alto waffled and warbled when asked to condemn Kim’s actions as Councillors Dave Thompson, Matt Dell, Krista Loughton and Jeremy Caradonna stood relatively silent, with tacit support of Susan Kim. We must not tolerate their silence. We must remember what appears to be held in their hearts. And we must demand better from our elected officials. If it takes regular reminders of Kim’s actions until meaningful reparations are made - so be it. I am waiting for a really good journalist to interview council members and not allow them to side step this issue. #yyjpoli.

I’ve feared this for months - my husband was hit by a car this morning on his bike. He has some bruising and we have to get the bike checked out, but thankfully he’s alive. Police and paramedics attended. Apparently the driver got a ticket. But, I believe a similar situation will happened again because the street / bike lane design. The crash occurred at Government Street at Pembroke Street. Danny was cycling south on Government when a driver (also travelling south) turned right onto Pembroke. Clearly the driver didn’t shoulder check or yield. When the city built this bike lane I was on Council and I warned the @CityOfVictoria traffic department, several times, there was an issue with design - specifically sight lines. Danny previously experienced close calls. Clearly the city traffic engineers ignored my concern. The cars parked along the bike lane block vision. It’s why it looks is so important for drivers to be extra careful. But design plays a major role here. To prevent further issues, I recommended the city place a mirror on the corner, or some device. to warn motorists and have a better view when a bike is coming. I was ignored, paid lip service and the city went on about its business. This is not an anti bike lane position - it’s trying to get the city to wake up and acknowledge it has some serious design flaws in some bike lanes. There is an inconsistency across the city - some are “motorists - no turns on red lights”, others are “motorists yield on red lights”, and some lights are “motorists turns before cyclists proceed” while most are “cyclists proceed before motorists turn”. It’s ridiculous. Well, the city ignored my previous warnings, now they are public, it’s on notice - and it’s liable if there are further injuries. Let’s pray egos are swallowed and the design is fixed before a tragedy occurs.

THIS IS NOT NORMAL - and anyone who tries to justify these incidents, for whatever reason, is misguided. We need to put a stop to this behaviour, stand up & denounce repeated criminality in #yyj. We are VASTLY under resourced. Time for change.@VicPD_Union
An off-duty VicPD officer was randomly attacked yesterday while volunteering as a dog walker in the 500-blk of David St. She suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Patrol officers located & arrested the suspect a short distance away from the scene. #yyj vicpd.ca/2021/09/14/off-duty…

I guess one way to ensure loyalty is to bribe your team. Trouble is, Eby uses taxpayer dollars 🤦‍♂️ #bcpoli
Eby often refers to the last election's results as an indication that British Columbians expect more from the BC NDP. His actions since then suggest a disconnect between what the public might have hoped for and what his administration is delivering. The expansion of his cabinet to include 27 ministers, along with the appointment of 14 parliamentary secretaries, raises significant concerns about the size of the government and fiscal responsibility. This isn't just government expansion; it's a blatant misuse of taxpayer dollars — more salaries, administrative costs, and increased public funds being diverted from essential services. Every new minister means more funding spent on administration instead of schools, hospitals, and infrastructure. It's clear as day: Eby’s approach is more about political patronage than about efficiently serving the fiscal and governance needs of British Columbia. #bcpoli

Ok, I remained silent on this long enough and won’t stand by and see @AJWVictoriaBC besmirched any longer. I find it hypocritical with all the whining and protest over the letter from Andrew - he endorsed me - get over it! And for the record - the idea for the letter came from Carole James who wrote a similar endorsement of Marianne Alto in the 2022 Victoria Mayoral race that also didn’t have any statement on the letter or envelope. It appears there’s a different standard when it’s done by anyone except the NDP. I welcome any fine or penalty - all it would do is show British Columbians, the inconsistency in electoral finance oversight. I believe I’d win that argument. Complain away it will a moot in a couple of hours. 🤦‍♂️
Former Green MLA @AJWVictoriaBC sent out a mailer this week containing a letter from him and a @Stephen_Andrew promo card. I believe this may be illegal on several fronts. Weaver's name does not appear on the third party registry on the Election BC website updated today. #bcpoli

With @CityOfVictoria councillors Susan Kim, Krista Loughton, Matt Dell, Dave Townsend and Jeremy Caradonna voting themselves a 25 % wage increase (and they are looking for more benefits), the image of pigs at the trough comes to mind. All five KNEW the renumeration BEFORE seeking election. All should have learned what the job was before running. The five hid their desire to burden taxpayers further, made no mention of it during the campaign and spring this on us without any chance for public discourse Clearly the deal was done outside a council meeting and they just went through the motions for the public. They are cowards, corrupt and absolutely tone deaf to the plight of people paying their way. This is disgusting. #yyjpoli #victoriabc

Health update: So we had a bit of a setback today. As I mentioned some months ago my remaining kidney - after the other was removed due to cancer - began shutting down. A very generous friend came forward and offered a kidney as a living donor and it brought hope. It’s a very rigorous evaluation process - numerous tests, matching and scans and meetings with a nephrologist, surgeon and social worker. Unfortunately, following a complete work up, today the team decided the generous donor was not a suitable candidate and removed them from the transplant program. I admit it’s a jolt. But to know someone is so willing and generous keeps me hopping. The month I began dialysis three times a week. It’s been rough getting used to the treatments. This also mean I am now on the transplant list for non living donor. However, that can take years. Meantime we continue with life. If you see me you will notice a change. Recently became weaker on my feet and using a cane to walk. Also I am very tired following treatments, but that is expected to improve as we get further into dialysis. Other than this I am still valuable, feel ok to work and enjoying life. If anyone wants information on the transplant program for living donors here’s the link… transplant.bc.ca/organ-donat… Thanks for reading.

All this grandstanding from the likes of fellow Victoria Councillors saying “I’m waiting to see if she really signed the (despicable antisemitic) letter” are incredulous. Of COURSE she signed it otherwise she would have immediately said she didn’t. Further - a wimpy request for “a letter of apology” is a completely inappropriate response. At the very least, Kim should be censured. I see @KevinFalcon has called for Kim to resign. I doubt no NDPer will join that call. After all, this is not a partisan political issue, it’s a dignity issue. Failure to call out Kim’s action is tacit approval.

Maybe I missed something, but I don’t understand this idea of fines against @BCFerries for cancelled sailings. The “company” gets its revenue from passengers (us) and the BC government (who gets its revenue from us). So if you follow that thought, the very people who endure the cancellations, have to pay the government for their inconvenience? Just asking #BCpoli

As a journalist I dealt in facts. Clearly as this election campaign progresses, I am learning my NDP challenger has a tenuous relationship with facts and the truth. Take for instance her statement “conservatives would increase” auto insurance rates. What?! That’s not our policy! It’s a scare tactic designed to distract people looking at the NDP record. Sure the NDP gave ICBC Policy holders a $110 vote-buying rebate. - but at what cost? Fact: severely injured (including brain injures) have been left to fend for themselves without proper care. That’s a point the NDP don’t want to talk about. We will eliminate “no fault” insurance regulations for severe injuries. It’s the right thing to do. #bcpoli
