I cannot stress enough the possibility of real transformative positive opportunity for the nation and people of Iran is on the table, but President Trump's patience is not unlimited.     The world cannot continue to suffer, and Iran must abide by its obligations to this Council that this Council voted for without opposition, and the world must hold this regime to account.

A serious counterterrorism strategy means securing borders and protecting our citizens from harm, not hiding behind a bloated 170+ paragraph UN resolution. We will continue to protect U.S. national interests, stop @UN bureaucratic overreach, and reject divisive global agendas. @USUN Full statement: usun.usmission.gov/explanati…
The United States will work with UN Member States to defeat terrorists and protect our homeland. We will NOT rubber stamp bloated resolutions loaded with divisive ideological distractions and bureaucratic blather. #backtobasics

U.S. leadership under President Trump continues to yield historic reform at the UN. With the adoption yesterday of the 2026-27 Peacekeeping budget, we have now reduced UN spending by over $1 Billion in the past 6 months. @AmbUNReform

The U.S. Mission joined the release of the 2026 World Drug Report, a key publication on global drug trends.  The United States welcomed its valuable data and analysis and stressed the need to strengthen barriers against the flow of precursor chemicals.  We call on all countries, especially China, to enforce stronger controls to prevent the trafficking of precursor chemicals and equipment used to illicitly manufacture deadly synthetic drugs. @State_IO @StateINL

Today at the UN Security Council I spoke about the grave situation in Sudan. The United States condemns the ongoing violence and the killing of civilians in the strongest terms, and we call on all parties to the conflict to halt the violence and embark on a path to peace.  This path includes a Humanitarian Truce or ceasefire and support for a civilian-led transition to democratic governance.  The United States commends the Quintet’s (the UN, AU, EU, IGAD, and Arab League) efforts to facilitate Sudanese civilian dialogue in search of a resolution. I also conveyed the United States’ deep concern over reports of the mobilization of RSF and allied forces that raises the risk of new attacks on civilians.

Today I addressed the UN Security Council, underscoring the Trump Administration's unwavering commitment to peace and stability in the DRC through the full implementation of the Washington Accords and Doha Framework Agreement. Under President Trump's leadership, we have backed that commitment with action, sanctioning the Rwandan Defense Force, former President Kabila, armed group commanders of the FDLR and M23, and conflict mineral networks. I thanked SRSG James Swan for his leadership and for the critical work of MONUSCO in the DRC. Alongside these efforts, we recognize the extraordinary sacrifices MONUSCO personnel make every day to protect civilians in the DRC and respond to the Ebola outbreak on the ground. We urge all parties to embrace regional mechanisms like EJVM+ as the path to ceasefire verification and accountability and approve the first mission immediately. The United States continues to support cooperation toward a durable transformation of the DRC and the broader Great Lakes region.

No child should be denied safety or security. First Lady Melania Trump made that message clear when she presided over the UN Security Council in March, drawing vital attention to the devastating toll that global conflict takes on children. Children around the world deserve to feel safe, to receive an education, and to have a future. When we take steps to protect children, we safeguard the future and help to end enduring conflicts.

Recently in the Central African Republic, we have witnessed the electoral process move toward completion, a new legislature, and a new Government – all proceeding with general calm. MINUSCA’s ability to develop and execute should inform how other UN missions work. In the long term, peace in the Central African Republic will depend solely on Central African ownership. @AmbUNReform
