On the passing of Altan Oymen The Socialist International extends its deepest condolences to the CHP and the family of Altan Oymen . Former CHP Leader Altan Öymen was a true social democrat, a journalist, former Minister of Tourism, a fighter for democracy throughout his life. His funeral will take place in Ankara on Monday. The funeral ceremony at the CHP headquarters will be followed by a second ceremony at Parliament. Nous, sommes extrêmement heureux que la liste menée par Raphaël Glucksmann et soutenue par le PS a réuni 13,8% des électeurs aux élections européennes, la plaçant en tête des partis progressistes. SI supports the UK Prime Minister against extreme right-wing riots As Socialist International we would like to express our solidarity with Keir Starmer and the British Labour Party government , challenged by unrest provoked by extreme right forces. Misinformation and disinformation through social media inciting violence, destruction of places of worship and hate crimes is a phenomenon we need to confront if we wish to protect open, democratic and diverse societies. 1st May – International Workers’ Day. For the Socialist International a just society is associated with decent work conditions and equal pay for men and women. Despite the progress achieved due to our joint struggles workers today face not only discrimination , unsafe conditions, and insecure jobs — but also a new wave of exploitation as artificial intelligence changes dramatically the labor conditions without adequate regulation. Although technological evolution can create new jobs, 427 million workers are under AI-driven management systems. 80% of large employers use AI to track individual productivity, imposing constant surveillance, punishing targets, and zero input from workers. The Socialist International stands with workers everywhere demanding fair pay, safe conditions, union rights, and democratic control over the tools that shape our lives. The Socialist International strongly condemns the latest decision of the Israeli Security Cabinet — against the advice of the Military Chief of Staff — for a gradual takeover of Gaza. As the leader of SI member party in Israel, Yair Golan, stated, this decision is a death sentence for the hostages and will create more bereaved families. It is part of a dangerous messianic vision inspired by a desire for political survival, against the interest of the country and its people. It is a destructive plan for both Israel and Gaza. We must not confuse the Israeli government with Israeli society. We need to stop the war in Gaza, stop the killing and displacement of Palestinians, free all hostages, ensure the massive and immediate entry of humanitarian aid, and put an end to the annexation of the West Bank. L’Internationale Socialiste condamne fermement la dernière décision du Cabinet de sécurité israélien — prise contre l’avis du chef d’état-major de l’armée — visant à une prise de contrôle progressive de Gaza. Comme l’a déclaré le dirigeant du parti membre de l’IS en Israël, Yair Golan, cette décision est une condamnation à mort pour les otages et entraînera davantage de familles endeuillées. Elle s’inscrit dans une dangereuse vision messianique inspirée par un désir de survie politique, au détriment de l’intérêt du pays et de son peuple. C’est un plan destructeur pour Israël comme pour Gaza. Dans ces circonstances, nous exprimons notre solidarité avec Les Démocrates et tous ceux qui luttent en Israël pour un grand changement. Il ne faut pas confondre le gouvernement israélien avec la société israélienne. Nous devons arrêter la guerre à Gaza, mettre fin aux tueries et aux déplacements de Palestiniens, libérer tous les otages, assurer l’entrée massive et immédiate de l’aide humanitaire et mettre fin à l’annexion de la Cisjordanie. Como declaró el líder del partido miembro de la IS en Israel, Yair Golan, esta decisión es una condena a muerte para los rehenes y provocará más familias en duelo. Forma parte de una peligrosa visión mesiánica inspirada por un afán de supervivencia política, en contra del interés del país y de su pueblo. Es un plan destructivo tanto para Israel como para Gaza. Ante estas circunstancias, expresamos nuestra solidaridad con Los Demócratas y con todos aquellos que luchan en Israel por un gran cambio.
