I have made multiple phone calls with multiple departments this morning and done some due diligence on this situation with regards to William and Stacey Horner (aka: Goose & Ashley). Some things that have not been clear that I think people should be aware of:
1.) The initial contact by the state police in September 2023 was based on a tip that came in from the national center for missing and exploited children, not a traffic stop.
2.) They are being charged with POSSESSION of over 1000 images of prepubescent children, not just "viewing" questionable material.
3.) The state officials handling the investigation have no knowledge of any involvement of federal authorities prior to their investigation beginning in Sept 2023 as was previously claimed by William.
4.) The delay between the beginning of the investigation in Sept 23 and the arrest was due to Houghton County not having a prosecutor as of October 2023.
