Wow, Bayonetta 3 got a patch update that makes some substantial fixes to the combat as well as fixing bugs and glitches. Viola got some major improvements, charging weapons while dodge offsetting works now, etc.

As someone who only looks at the tiniest details when it comes Bayonetta combat, I should point out that bullets ricocheting off walls is coming back in Bayonetta 3. This was originally in Bayonetta 1 but was removed in Bayonetta 2.

I'll always defend Bayonetta 3 when it comes to combat. It is crammed with so much nonsense that you can either go pure chaos with it, like Zack is doing, or you can pull off super precise stuff like I do. When it goes your way, it's incredibly cathartic.

Did you know? In Bayonetta 1, when you are witch walking, you get an additional, unique punish attack where Bayonetta just simply picks up fallen enemies and throws them towards the direction that gravity goes? It's a neat detail that's rarely ever seen.

Of all the clips I recorded for my vid, this one was the hardest to perfect due to the number of things I had to do to get it to look right with so much finger work. It took over a month of practice to nail down. It's funny because it doesn't look at all complicated.

Gameplay is solid. Better than 2 and almost, ALMOST better than 1 by virtue of how super creative the weapons/slaves are and that enemies behave so much better. If only momentum, JC and framerate were better.

Another #Bayonetta3 QoL improvement. Verse results screens now display how many verses there are in a chapter in the form of these empty coin slots. Complete a verse and the medal you earn gets fitted into the slot, so now you'll know if you skipped a verse during gameplay.

This game deserves more love. It was an easily hated game back then because it was viewed as a licensed cash grab. Its biggest issue was that it didn't have enough content for the general audience, which makes sense when you realize Activision gave PG 4 months to make this game.
It's criminal Transformers: Devastation is not more popular. The parry and dodge offsets are insanely cool and offer so many unique advantages. It even has vehicle attacks, wallsplats and more. It stands tall even against Bayonetta imo

You left out the little detail about SEGA delaying the US release date of this game for an entire year, for absolutely no reason, and only then, did they release it at a discounted price of $30, long after people lost interest.
SEGA never informed their audience of the delay.
Remember that Anarchy Reigns by a studio as popular as PlatinumGames released it for $20 to $30 at LAUNCH and it was a hard flop.
Now I see people saying "This game looks so cool, they should make more of it.". This didn't happen then, it's not gonna happen now lol

There's definitely a huge desire within the gaming community for more amazing action games. The problem is, most devs today don't understand the quirks of action games, so you end up with titles that try its best to capture the spectacles but not the fundamentals.
Even if Steller Blade is bad... it reveals that there is an open market for overwhelming character action after Bayonetta 3 and Nier Automata.
They are beatable.

It's rarely acknowledged how much of Bayonetta's personality is attributed to Maiko's unique movement. Her dancing is so unparalleled that when we see it unfold live on camera, we don't see Maiko, we see Bayonetta. And that alone is very impressive.
Bayonetta (2009) motion actor Maiko Uchida showed up late for rehearsals and hadn't even listened to the assigned music, but wowed the Platinum Games team with her mesmerizing dancing to land the role.
