Nothing that can truly represent the devastation caused by the plane crash in Washington DC last night. A tragedy that claimed the lives of skaters, coaches, parents and officials.

Tonight I had the honor to participate in a powerful event honoring the lives lost on American flight 5342 that collided with an army helicopter on January 29th. Skaters from every era came together to raise money for the grieving families and 1st responders. Please check out Legacy on Ice on Peacock and consider donating. Max Naumov skated one of the most powerful performances I have ever witnessed in honor of his parents whose lives were lost on that fateful night. I’m so proud of my sport for coming together as they did tonight to show their support and honor their friends and families.

Delayed Axels are beautiful jumps where a skater takes off going forward (Axels all take off going forward) and delays rotating until they are at the peak of the jump. Then they pull in to complete the rotation. Hanyu‘ s coach Brian Orser had an amazing delayed axel.
