Scotland 2050 Is Not a Vision. It’s a Colonial Delay Tactic by the English coloniser
Let’s be clear: Scotland does not need a 2050 plan. Scotland needs decolonisation. Now.
The so-called “Scotland 2050” conference, wrapped in glossy optimism and vague platitudes about the future, is nothing more than a colonial pacification strategy. Designed by private interests embedded in the existing British/English Anglophone state structure, not by the sovereign Scottish people, this initiative pretends to be forward-looking while it systematically erases the present reality of colonial occupation.
Who asked for this? Who mandated this small group of people to chart Scotland’s path? Certainly not a free and self-determining Scotland. And certainly not the communities suffering from decades of extraction, disempowerment, and London-centric governance.
There is no McKinsey logo here, but the logic is identical: technocratic delay masquerading as strategic foresight. These elite-designed “visions” defer liberation to a distant horizon while locking in the structural subjugation of today. It is a common method: replace decolonisation with “development”, sovereignty with “sustainability”, and urgency with bureaucratic theatre.
We are told to dream of 2050 while our oil is stolen in 2025, while our waters remain shifted by Westminster decree, while our nation is represented to the world not as “Scotland” but as a region of a so-called “United Kingdom” that no longer pretends to be united.
2050 is not a horizon but a colonial graveyard for independence.
Scotland does not need another panel. It needs power, international recognition, and the full exercise of sovereignty. Now, not in 25 years once the colonial administrators have written their reports and consultants have harvested their fees.
Let’s say it plainly:
“Scotland 2050” is England’s 1746 rebranded. A quiet Culloden in conference form.
Reject the delay. Reject the distraction.
Independence is not a vision but a right. And it is overdue.
