The no-wake zone in Broad Creek, located on Hilton Head Island, SC, has been modified to include all areas between Broad Creek Marina and Shelter Cove.

This no-wake zone extension eliminates two areas where boaters were previously able to operate above idle speed on either side of the Long Cove docks.

The only area where boaters may operate above idle speed is between the Haig Point/Daufuskie Island Ferry pickup and Broad Creek Marina.

SCDNR divers recovered the body of a man from Lake Wateree in Kershaw County on June 18, 2026. According to preliminary information, the man exited a boat to swim and began experiencing distress in the water. Other individuals attempted rescue efforts, but he did not resurface.

The main boat ramp at Lake Edgar Brown in Barnwell County is closed until further notice due to damage. The lake is open and can be accessed through the north landing on Black Road. Please use caution on the north end of the lake as it is shallow in some areas.

Officers and investigators have responded to a boating incident on the Sampit River in Georgetown County. Preliminary information indicates that two boats collided with one fatality. Details remain limited as this is still in the early stages.
