There’s something really interesting brewing at @Ethereum_OS They’re building what they call a “social DeFi sandbox” and honestly, that term alone made me stop scrolling. Let’s unpack this 👇 So what is EthereumOS, really? Think of it like an operating system for Ethereum but instead of just running apps, it connects social + DeFi into one programmable layer. You’re not just using DeFi dapps here. You’re creating social-native financial experiences. The post that caught my attention: nitter.app/Ethereum_OS/status/194… “If Ethereum is the internet of value... EthereumOS wants to be the iPhone moment of onchain social and DeFi.” That’s a bold vision. But also... kinda makes sense. Why does this matter? We’ve seen people try to build "onchain social" before. Most were either too clunky or just copies of Web2 with a token. EthereumOS feels different, they’re not just making another Farcaster or friend.tech. They’re building the infrastructure layer that lets any of those thrive. It’s like a sandbox for social tokens, creator-owned economies, chain-native content feeds, etc. And they’re thinking composable from day 1! Meaning you can stack DeFi + social primitives together in wild, experimental ways. This is what Ethereum is supposed to enable. My thoughts? If they pull it off, EthereumOS might be the closest thing we get to an onchain iOS a place where: 1) you have an identity 2) you discover apps/content 3) and you can earn or build with native tools And all of it runs on Ethereum rails. Of course, it’s still early. We don’t know if the UX will click. We don’t know what the app ecosystem will look like. But the ingredients are solid.
