My origin story is not filled with collecting butterflies or following in my parentsโ footsteps. Rather, I always loved science, but was fascinated by addiction and wanted to โcureโ it. It started with my fatherโs persistent substance use disorder. 1/

I didnโt realize how much anxiety and stress I was holding onto until I saw the word, guilty. I am so used to being let down by these trials that I was expecting it here too. Even with all of that evidence. George Floyd deserved to live, and his life was taken from him.

Eight years ago today, I was hospitalized with preeclampsia. My BP was high, and my doc made the decision that I needed a C-section that day. This little guy made it safely into the world, and I made it safely back to normal BP. Grateful for everyday with him. Happy birthday son!
