The #BabylonFire burning in San Juan County has grown to 96,594 acres, making it the largest wildfire burning in the United States.
Disasters like this are a result of federal mismanagement where red tape stalls proactive measures that protect our communities.
May God bless the brave firefighters and residents of San Juan.

The profound legacy given us by our founding fathers has shaped our nation, and on America’s 250th birthday, I believe we have a responsibility to do more than just celebrate what we have inherited.

I woke up this morning with the same heavy heart I have carried all week as wildfires continue to burn throughout Utah.
This week we lost three firefighters. I am praying for their families and for every Utahn affected. I am grateful for the first responders working around the clock. May God bless and protect them.
This should not be our every summer. I represent a district that has watched fire tear through its communities. I have seen what it does to our land. I have met with the ranchers, the land managers, and the state officials who have lived this season after season.
Changing the status quo surrounding wildfires is one of my top priorities in Congress. Our communities need forests that are actively managed and a federal government that understands our land and its unique needs.
Please stay alert. Check on your neighbors. Support the men and women on the front lines. That is the Utah spirit. It is the reason we get through this year after year.
