For the record Junior doctors are the unsung heroes of this pandemic. Working all across our hospitals (and in primary care). Constantly having to adapt to new wards, new situations, ever changing rotas and a new disease. Working incredibly hard. Unbelievable professionalism 👏

Strange claim that Downing Street were working on the vaccine programme in May 20 - long before any vaccines were available. If true, i'd love to know what they were doing. I love the idea there is an adenovirus lab in the basement of Downing Street
'I know at that period we're talking about people working long hours, 18-19 hour days, absolutely exhausted, to deliver one of the best vaccine programmes in the world.' Tory MP @Mike_Fabricant says Boris Johnson's weakness is his loyalty to people who work for him.

Academia is an odd thing to be involved in. Most of it is being told you can't do stuff or whatever you are doing isn't worth doing. Sometimes they are right. Often wrong.Trick is to realise when, and who to listen to. You need a thick skin and perseverance. #AcademicTwitter

Countries that have done well (mostly in Asia) have used effective test/trace/isolate and kept economies largely open. We can do it in the UK- we do extensive asymptomatic testing to protect professional football, why not protect NHS patients and vulnerable groups the same way?
Good to hear @ProfJDChalmers Good Morning Scotland 7.10 emphasising those countries that have done well and kept economies open have been those that have gone for test trace isolate big time. And he cites testing of footballers as perfect example so not just those with symptoms !
