Some thoughts I feel I should share going forward as I continue to be apart of this great AZ HS Sports Media scene: Yes I am still very young in comparison to most of the great media personalities around the state. But that does not mean that I should not be treated as a peer or with the same respect, as I treat others with great respect and support everyone I can that I see making a positive impact!! 🫡 In fact being young is my advantage. I grew up here and played local high school sports, I played for some of these coaches, even played with or against a couple of the top players. I bring a much different perspective than most, that from experience seems like the players love to see. Sure, maybe I do not have as much “experience” as others so far but I will say I work extremely hard to attend as many events, games, practices, etc as possible to be more and more informative and do LOTS of research and have many conversations with members of the community. I am 100% committed to positively impacting high school sports as I believe it is amazing and an important part of high school kids lives with so many opportunities available from it. My ultimate goal: To make a positive impact on young athletes around the state and create a platform that is bigger than me and about helping others achieve some form of success. ❤️

@NAU_Football is putting in serious work on the recruiting trail here in Arizona this week! The Lumberjacks have four staff members in the Valley, attending top showcases and practices to evaluate some of the state's best talent. Under 2nd-year head coach Brian Wright and Director of Player Personnel and Recruiting Tim Roschman, NAU has continuously made tremendous strides in recruiting Arizona. Roschman, a local hire, brings valuable AZHSFB experience and knowledge after coaching at powerhouse Peoria Liberty just two seasons ago.

Higley HC Eddy Zubey on RB Justin Bender this season: Bender switched from OL to RB and lost 70 pounds in the process. 🚨 2025 Under Recruited Player 🚨 @Cehsfootball WR Nikko Boncore (@Nikko_Boncore) 6’0 175lbs Boncore put up 1214 yards receiving and 15 TD’s last year at Cactus. Transferred to 6A power Centennial this off-season. He is an extremely versatile athlete that contributed all over the field last year. Has great hands and runs crisp routes with elite field vision. •@chandler_wolves 26’ DB/WR Hamisi Juma (@13Imtoofast) had a great weekend up in Flagstaff!! Physical DB, has great size, lengthy cover corner with strong closing and lateral speed. Impressed the NAU and Colorado State staff as he received offers from both after the camp yesterday. Also played very well in the 7on7 the day before, saw him have an outstanding 1 hand interception.

•@FootballBrophy 25’ C @AndersonKopp2 had a strong day at the ASU big man on Tuesday!! The @KU_Football commit looks ready for a big senior season with the Broncos. Kopp one of the best centers in the state, blew up this spring in his recruitment before deciding to commit to the Jayhawks following in his father’s footsteps.

Congratulations to @LibertyFBLions for winning the NAU Weekend 2 Top of the Mountain 7 on 7!!! Dominated all day, the Lions were the #1 seed after pool play and went 7-0 in total to cap off their championship run.

Washington plays with some of most energy and effort you will see, extremely high motor player with violent hands. His stats last year at Independence reflected his play style as he racked up an incredible 31.5 TFL’s along with 8 sacks and 93 total tackles!!

Physical tackler that plays with a lot of aggressiveness. Well rounded athlete that can play well in every faze of the game. ASU football players Trenton and Coben Bourguet have been making a big impact in the football community and the coaching world helping run everything from the family run @TucsonTurfElite 7on7 team to camps and events. I talked with them about their coaching journey after their event with @GroundUpQB at Marana last night: They both feel as if building relationships and meeting new people is one of the best parts of coaching, and enjoy giving back to the community while doing it the right way. Excited to see what is in store for both of them in the coaching world post ASU.

NDP WR Cooper Perry about his potential offensive production this year, being a big name WR in the state: DE tonight put 2-3 guys on Perry at times as I’m sure many teams will do this year. Perry isn’t concerned about stats as the attention he gets opens up things for the rest of his offense. Perry says his ultimate goal is to win a championship his senior year even if he sacrifices his production to accomplish it.

As we approach the mid regular season mark I’d like to address a couple things with my Top Performers lists I’ve been putting out the past 4 weeks: First and foremost they are never going to be perfect and neither am I. Some teams take longer than others to put in stats, some don’t put them in at all, and Maxpreps as a whole is challenging at times to navigate when searching through every 5A and 6A game from every week. I’m going to miss a couple people every week it’s bound to happen. I do my best to fairly evaluate stat lines and compile lists beneficial to Media, Parents, Teams, College Coaches etc. All in all it’s ALWAYS for the kids and for them to be recognized for great performances week in and week out! AZHSFB is a great thing and so is the community around it! Hope everyone is excited for the rest of the season! ❤️

•@bashagridiron WR Gio Richardson and RB Noah Roberts on the importance of running Track at the High School level: Richardson says that Head Track Coach Marcus Brunson is the best in the state. Roberts adds that track helps with football recruitment, as college coaches love to see players have official times on the track and involvement in another sport. Richardson ran 10.7 in the 100 meters during the spring and Roberts was not far behind clocking a 10.8 in the event as a freshman. The Bears have a plethora of FB players that run track in the spring, and it shows on the football field as Basha has one of the fastest and most explosive skill groups in the state.
