one time the audio i collected of a postgame conversation with chris bosh was completely unusable bc michael beasley and chris andersen were arguing over which of them had a better chance of fighting a lion with their bare hands
I once asked the Eagles PR if I could talk to Jason for 10 mins about Howie Roseman. They said sure, during our open locker room period. We’ll let him know you’re waiting. Jason got done with meetings with about two mins remaining in the media availability & waved me over. “Should I come back tomorrow?” I asked. (I’d driven up from Baltimore.) “Nah man, you can stay,” he said. Media got escorted out, but it was like Kelce had given me a hall pass. We sat on stools and chatted for 10 mins. At one point he asked his teammates to turn down the stereo so we could have a conversation without shouting. It might seem meaningless if you’ve never been in an NFL locker room, but those little gestures of kindness to the media are increasingly rare. He is a mensch. I wish I’d gotten to write about the art of how good he was at such a thankless position.
