I am an active Arena player and I spend about $1,000 a year on the program. I spend a fraction of that with all my other games combined.
There's no way to spin this - no "our method is XYZ, but better" - in the face of hard, cold numbers. Arena's economy is just too predatory

Went 8-1 in constructed with my Izzet Cauldron brew! Only lost 3 games in constructed (unfortunately 2 to the same person). First time I ever play my own brew like this in a PT, so I’m super glad it paid off!

The Arena economy is truly unbelievable... I spent $150 in Dominaria boosters, and then an extra 6k gems (which is like $35 if I were to buy them), and there are some rares from the set I have ZERO copies of. Not even mythics, rares!!

This reminds me of something that happened to me a long time ago at Nationals 😂
Two MTG players sit down for their round at a tournament. They chat; pleasantries and greetings. Player A says what deck they are on. Player B withholds the information politely.
They play and it turns out Player A lied what about what deck they are on.

Until this number goes down A LOT, there's no "extra bundles", "vault progress", "duplicate protection" that will mean anything. People need to be able to play Arena without having to spend $100 a month. Everything else is just noise.

My guess is that when you're playing Bo3, you need to dedicate a full block of time and it's hard to commit to it. But if you're watching you can leave/pause at any time so it's OK.

Went 4-6 at Worlds. Disappointing finish for what is perhaps going to be the last professional MTG event ever, but we'll see. I don't think we chose our deck very well - we expected ppl to slant their decks to beat UR and I think they did the opposite

Sometimes I think about that tournament our entire team played Mono-White and we had our player who was most likely to be on coverage play 1 Settle the Wreckage so that everyone would see it and play around it vs all of us, and open decklists has kinda ruined the magic

That said, this tournament wasn't fun for me. Two of my matches were decided by the Phyrexian Tower bug where it just passes your turn automatically. They were round 1 of both days and sort of put me on tilt for the rest of the tournament, which really soured my experience.

When it comes to deck selection, It is MUCH more important to avert disaster than it is to hit the jackpot. Don't try to reinvent the wheel, just do the bread and butter as well as possible.

Ended the week 10-2, which puts me in 1st place right now. There's a lot of Magic left to be played, but I'm particularly proud of myself this time around because I went against the wisdom of the crowds with many of my deck choices and I think I was mostly right in my changes.

I won a PTQ with 4 copies of this in my Tog deck
I meant to write "Nightscape Familiar" in my decklist (which was standard for the deck) but wrote "Nightscape Apprentice" instead. Got deck-checked round 2 and had to play the 4 Apprentices for the remainder of the tournament
