The Pokémon Company has revealed a rather special card for the TCG's Terastal Festival ex set: Palafin drawn by Testuo Hara, best known for Fist of the North Star—the perfect fit for the Pelagic Protector.
"You can now tell the Pokémon walking alongside you to wait in place. This can help you set up the ideal angle for your photos."
This is the most important announcement from the Presents.
With Hisuian Typhlosion officially revealed, I get to share a detail that I've been holding onto since the leak phase: whether deliberate or not, I *love* that Hisuian Typhlosion's colour palette mirrors the original GSC shiny for Typhlosion! The shiny changed in later games.
We're done the first week of design reveals for the Hatsune Miku and Pokémon collaboration Project Voltage! Here's all five designs:
🎤 Psychic by take
🎤 Grass, Fire, Water by Megumi Mizutani
🎤 Electric by kannnu
Which Miku Pokémon trainer is your favourite?
"Pokémon Scarlet & Violet take a new evolutionary step... Trainers can explore an open world where various towns with no borders blend seamlessly into the wilderness. Pokémon can be seen everywhere in this wide-open world—in the skies, in the sea, and on the streets."
A brand new Pokémon x Vocaloid Project Voltage illustation has been shared, this time to mark the 20th anniversary of Meiko's introduction. It features Hatsune Miku as a Dark-type trainer with a similarly styled Meiko & Zoroark.
Artist: apapico
The edits to Lucario's model in Scarlet & Violet are funny to me because it's like someone at the studio got fed up of people wondering how it's a Steel-type
This German Pokémon fan tried to see if they could break away from Pokémon Legends Z-A's demo to find Sycamore's research lab instead, and succeeded lol piped.video/nEfE1cHP4g8
Cute new artwork of Pokémon Sword and Shield's protagonists in their Gym uniforms. "You can choose the combination of three numbers on your own uniform!"
That's a wheel in place of a chest on Koraidon (Scarlet) and what looks like a motorcycle seat on Miraidon's (Violet) back. They're... bikes?
These flags remind me of racing flags too, and Pokémon Centers that look like gas stations...
Reminder that Masuda was hospitalized by the workload he took on to 'save Pokémon' with Gen III. That Ohmori has tweeted that he's been working on and thinking about Galar so much that he goes home and still dreams about it. You can argue about priorities, but they are not lazy.
Official artwork of Pokémon Pokopia's professor, Professor Tangrowth, "who has been living all alone in a place where humans and Pokémon once lived—and appears to be wearing human tools."
Official art of Shield's Melony:
"Melony is an Ice-type Pokémon user and the only Gym Leader able to boast that she’s never once lost to Raihan, who is generally regarded as the strongest Gym Leader in the current Galar Pokémon League."
The Ball Guy Twitter rally is done. Three codes can now be used worldwide in Pokémon Sword and Shield to receive rare Poké Balls:
* K0UN1NMASC0T: Level Ball, Moon Ball, Fast Ball
* 1YAHAYA: Heavy Ball, Lure Ball, Beast Ball
* 0KUGAFUKA1B0RU: Love Ball, Friend Ball, Dream Ball
I feel like not enough people know that Mega Clefable has an attack animation where they basically aggressively point down at the foe with a massive smile
One of my favourite overworld details in Legends: Arceus is this Nosepass that sits by itself on a lonely hill in the Highlands, staring at Mt. Coronet and the Temple of Sinnoh all day.
Gastly has changed again! Legends Z-A continues the tweaks to Gastly's appearance, this time finding a middle ground between PLA's intense smog colour and SV's much lighter shade.
Gastly's model was remade in Legends: Arceus, with smog that is much more smoothly animated but also much darker than its official artwork. Pokémon Scarlet & Violet keeps the updated models but reverts the colours. Left is PLA, right is SV.
One of my favourite examples of how unique Poké Ball animations are used to share character details is how Honey's deceptive strength (teased prior) is immediately conveyed in how she effortlessly whips the ball with enough power to distort it, anime style.
We’ve discussed previously how Pokémon character details are often expressed through their choice of Poké Ball, but there’s also personality to be found in how they use them.
Another short thread:
Official artwork of Ingo in Legends: Arceus. "A warden of the Pearl Clan who came to the Hisui region through a strange twist of fate. He appears to have lost his memory, unable to remember what his life was like prior to his arrival in Hisui."
I’ve seen a lot of people notice that the “shiny Pokémon battled” count on their trainer cards has risen and wonder if they’ve missed a shiny, but you should know this oddly titled count actually includes any shiny Pokémon you’ve evolved.
I love Mega Drampa. The radiation from Mega Evolution is said to revert its age, so the way its fur blackens isn't just "Cloud Nine" clouds frenzying into a storm, but also the white hair regaining its colour. Likewise, its movements become less geriatric (faster, more animated).
Actually ingenious to run a campaign gently nudging everyone into becoming Malamar fanatics and then ending that campaign with a video that can double as a meta reaction to how everyone lost their minds over Malamar
The Japanese stream for tomorrow's Pokémon Legends Z-A Malamar video has been setup. It'll be a special broadcast from Lumiose City News exploring our friend Malamar's sudden explosion in popularity!
Art of Raihan, "the strongest Gym Leader in the current Galar League. He is also the rival of Leon, the sitting Champion. Raihan is a Dragon-type user and trains relentlessly—while also making the time to enjoy his hobbies of fashion and cultivating his social media presence."
Seeing a lot of people talk about Junji Ito recently, so this seems like a good time to remind people that The Pokémon Company commissioned official illustrations from Ito for a Halloween campaign back in 2014.
Official art of Hisuian Typhlosion. "In addition to having graceful and refined movements, Hisuian Typhlosion has a very relaxed disposition and can often be seen staring into space. At such times, it is thought to be looking at the flow of life energy and spirits."
This is the Cramorant of woe. It temporarily appears on trainers' teams to signal that they are Going Through It. Though Cramorant will soon disappear as quietly as it appeared, its appearance should be taken seriously.
So what happens when you take an alpha Mime Jr. and evolve it into Mr. Rime in Galar? Well, its alpha status is still visible when viewed in HOME while connected to Legends: Arceus ᵇᵘᵗ ⁱᵗ ᶜᵃⁿ ⁿᵉᵛᵉʳ ʳᵉᵗᵘʳⁿ ʰᵒᵐᵉ...
A brand new Project Voltage Pokémon Trainer design has been revealed!
Here’s Kasane Teto as a rival with Meloetta (Pirouette Forme), designed by take, who also designed Hatsune Miku’s Psychic-type Pokémon Trainer appearance!
The image of Regigigas sitting down and spending countless hours on sculpting a dragon golem and then running out of parts for the rest of the body is killing me. Regidrago is the Pokémon version of the unfinished horse joke. It has tiny baby legs because Regigigas just RAN OUT
World's Ends Club is coming to Nintendo Switch in May. The game was made by the creators of Danganronpa.
Fun fact: World’s End Club’s cast was designed by take, who also worked on the designs for Sword and Shield’s Gym Leaders and Sun and Moon’s Aether Foundation.
You can see Mable's old visor sitting on her (well, Sycamore's former, it has the same design) desk at the lab. She also has a Team Flare logo on her laptop and chair. Is that... allowed? Everyone's just cool with that?
Official artwork of Mable in Legends Z-A. Mable was a scientist for Team Flare, but is now the acting director of the Pokémon Research Lab. Mable is studying the sudden emergence of Pokémon post-urban redevelopment.
Complete Mable's research tasks to earn TMs and other rewards.
It was a savvy choice to use Naveen's existing role as the group cynic to add some depth and necessary friction to the final convos with AZ.
A great related detail: after AZ's confession, Naveen sits on the couch that faces away from everyone instead of the usual group chairs.
Two brand new characters/Pokémon forms have been revealed for Pokémon Pokopia.
Peakychu: A pale Pikachu with drooping ears whose fur is a mysterious colour.
Mosslax: Moss has grown all over this Snorlax’s body, and it looks as though a flower is blooming atop its head.
Neat: museums across Japan will be hosting a Pokémon fossils exhibit. The exhibit will highlight the real dinosaur fossils that fossil Pokémon are inspired by. kahaku.go.jp/pokemon/
Austin John has shared a full recording of Pokémon Legends Z-A's Worlds 2025 demo: piped.video/xTbBSDeOKck
Here's the map of Lumiose City. It seems fairly dense and labyrinthine—like a proper city. You can trace some waterways.
Game starts with a Pancham stealing your bag.
Gigantamax Cinderace
Its "fighting spirit" can possess the ball after it's kicked, and "cause the ball to pursue opponents as if it had a mind of its own." It also has "incredible leg strength–in fact, its legs are said to rank among the strongest of all Pokémon."
More than 200 additional Pokémon will become available with the release of Sword and Shield's Expansion pass. You will be able to freely trade these Pokémon with those who do not have the pass.
