If police can take it one step further, why can't you in your own home?
There's been a lot of debate in Canada about homeowners being charged after defending themselves. Think about it - police don't "match" a suspect's level of force.
Even if someone is unarmed, officers have batons, pepper spray, tasers, and protective gear. So why should it be different for you in your own home?
If an intruder breaks in, you don't know their intentions, their fighting skills, or if they're high on drugs or in crisis. You shouldn't have to wait to find out. It's your home, your family, and should be your right to defend yourself.
Do you agree - or should homeowners be charged for going one step further?
