I see a lot of criticism about @Polkadot. Sure, there are areas to improve, but most of you don’t realize that JAM will fix all of these issues. Main criticisms of Polkadot: + High entry barrier for developers: Deploying a parachain requires winning a DOT-based auction, which can be costly and complex for new teams. + Rigid infrastructure (Relay Chain limitations): The Relay Chain is inflexible, everything must fit into the predefined parachain architecture, limiting innovation. + Fragmented user narrative around JAM: The separate branding of JAM has created confusion, leading to inconsistent messaging and reduced confidence among users and developers. How JAM solves them: + Permissionless service deployment: JAM removes the auction model. Developers can deploy smart contract–based services directly using Coretime, with DOT as the utility token, eliminating the prohibitive entry barrier. + Modular, flexible architecture: Replacing the Relay Chain with a modular system allows “generic services”, not just parachains, enabling a much broader range of decentralized applications. + Clearer branding + unified narrative: The community is reinforcing the idea that JAM is simply the next evolutionary upgrade of Polkadot, not a separate project. DOT remains the ecosystem token.
