Following @iohk_charles tweet from this morning, as a precautionary measure, we have temporarily disabled the adahandles function in the Nami wallet. Our team is working diligently to implement a permanent fix that we expect to issue soon. Thank you all for your patience!
I'm just coming up to speed on Nami. We've put together a weekend team to investigate an issue involving Nami's implementation of ADAHandles. The one issue that has been identified is a delay in fetching ADAHandles whereby if users are typing in handles, i.e. "$NFT" and then "$NFTs", there is a delay in updating the destination from $NFT to $NFTs. The team is disabling ADAhandles within Nami as an immediate backstop to prevent this from occurring until we fully develop and test a solution. The disabling code has been written and pushed to Google and we are waiting on their approval, which usually takes 1-2 hours. Lace users are unaffected. Nami users take a break for a few hours while the team finishes the initial investigation of the acquired code and temporarily disables the impacted features. I understand how frustrating these issues can be to those impacted. It's one of the reasons we bought Nami so that we could migrate the great experience to a codebase that is maintained using IOG's engineering standards. Unfortunately, this migration takes time and bugs like these could be lurking in the acquired codebase. If you think you've been impacted, X isn't the medium to broadcast it. When we finish the initial investigation, we'll include a form that you can fill out so we can examine each incident on a case by case basis. So far, this seems to have only impacted a few users. Here's a picture of Totoro to lighten the mood.

4/5 For light-wallets it's hard to fully validate a script at this point in time. In a worst case scenario, malicious, or poorly built dApps, would only be able to take this amount. Finally, collateral aims to prevent bad actor from spamming the network with failing contracts.
3
1
32
1/5 Transactions on Cardano are normally validated in phase 1, which means before they even get onto the network they are completely verified. If something is off, such as inadequate fees or an insufficient balance, the transaction is directly rejected without incurring costs.

3/5 When a script runs successfully, the collateral is not taken. The chances of losing the collateral are very low; however, Nami seeks to minimize the risk by only allowing a determined amount (5₳) of collateral to be used.
1
30
2/5 Contracts, on the other hand, are validated in phase 2. Only the node that produces the block verifies the contract fully. In the event of a contract failure, a collateral is taken to cover the resources (cpu and memory) used by the node to verify the contract.

29

Yes. On Cardano transactions are fully deterministic, so you can validate the contract transaction off-chain before you submit it to the network. However right now light wallets have the limitation to not fully validate it, that's why we add this concept to minimize the risk.

When the @blockfrost_io API goes open source you can turn Nami also in a full node wallet. The node and wallet interface can run on seperate machines, which means you have the full node security, but don't need to sync the chain each time you open the wallet.

Regarding the welcome screen, the state is not stored there yet. I have some concerns leaving the seed phrase words open in the localStorage (people could forget to continue and just leave it there). I may solve that differently for that case. That would be awesome!

The collateral amount is not really separated from your wallet. If you set collateral in Nami, only the active Nami instance you use remembers that. As soon as you reset Nami your collateral is simply part of your account balance again. It's not lost.

Yes, but this looks correct. So Nami detected the Yoroi wallet, but doesn't show you anything, because the balance is not on the address that is given in Nami. You have to send your funds to that address to see there
1
That's an issue with the blockfrost API then. Was getting too many requests apparently. I have no influence on that, but Nami is based on that one

Account 1 is the same, but on Yoroi everything is distributed across multiple addresses. Nami doesn't track all, but just a single one of these. But yes importing account 1,2.. are basically completely new wallets and would allow you to have multiple seperated wallets with one HW
1
1
Replying to @o_mancheteiro
This works different. These are 50 different accounts. Yoroi imports just the first account, but Nami uses only a single address at each account. So you have to send everything to that one address. In Yoroi you will still see everything as well.
