The lunar South Pole region
Artemis III is coming together, piece by piece. The second of four RS-25 rocket engines was recently offloaded at @NASAKennedy. These rocket engines will power the Space Launch System rocket during the launch of Artemis III, propelling the Orion spacecraft into Earth orbit.

Two missions – one epic arrival to NASA Kennedy! The 310-foot-long barge carried NASA’s Roman telescope and the Artemis III weather cover. Roman will reveal billions of galaxies, hundreds of thousands of new exoplanets, hundreds of blackholes, and will provide vast volumes of daily data for astronomers to study. The Artemis weather cover will protect the rocket’s thermal systems in its short stack configuration while at the launch pad. go.nasa.gov/4xIVh9Q

Can you work out like an Artemis astronaut? The Artemis II astronauts exercised for roughly 30 minutes per day during their mission with a device called the flywheel, which provides the crew with a range of workouts without requiring any electrical power from the spacecraft.

During their lunar flyby, the Artemis II crew enjoyed the rare opportunity to experience a solar eclipse from their Orion spacecraft. With the Sun hidden behind the Moon, the astronauts were able to analyze the Sun’s outermost atmosphere, also known as the solar corona.

Big week for Artemis III 🚀 Just before NASA introduced the Artemis III crew, the SLS solid rocket booster segments arrived in Florida after a six-day rail journey from Utah. Later this year, teams will begin stacking the boosters that create 75% of the thrust needed at launch.

I was excited for today…excited to cheer on the Agency and my friends as we named the Artemis III crew. What I didn’t expect was the feeling of complete, unbridled happiness in my soul as @Astro_Jeremy (from afar), @Astro_Christina, @AstroVicGlover and I ceremonially handed our baton to the next crew. We did it, and we did it well. @AstroKomrade, @astro_luca, Frank Rubio, @Astro_AndreD — you have the controls!! You will do it, and I know you will do it well. Godspeed, Artemis III

Proud to continue our partnership with @esa as Luca Parmitano joins the Artemis III crew. Great things happen when trusted partners come together around bold goals. Together, Artemis III will prove the capabilities and operational rhythm needed for the next era of lunar exploration.
Our astronaut Luca Parmitano is assigned as pilot of NASA’s #ArtemisIII mission. With Europe powering Orion with the European Service Module, this mission will test the critical operations preparing for humankind's return to the Moon. A strong step forward for ESA–NASA partnership. 🔗esa.int/Science_Exploration/… 📸 NASA

From Moon joy to Earth joy, the journey continues. Before any great road trip, you start with prep: check the weather, tune the car, pack smart. Artemis III is no different. We’re building our science game plan, studying Earth’s atmosphere and how space affects the human body, to ensure future Artemis missions are safe and ready for the journey.
