After working on close to 60 games and 100s of live event programs, I have decided to leave Activision Blizzard. More importantly, after 16 years my time as a member of the @MLG family has come to an end.
Sick of this BS. Both of my sons play a lot of video games, including shooters. Both are honor roll, active in sports, have tons of friends, and are well mannered lest they risk the wrath of their parents. In fact my 8 year old improved his reading DRAMATICALLY playing Zelda.
Took my kids to see Batman late last night. Some young adults on a date in front of us fake spilled water over their shoulder hitting my son and then mocked us.
I now have free movie tickets for a month and those dudes hid in a bathroom until staff escorted them out.
Good night
My dream of a massive FPS event has inched one step closer.
Rent every hall at Anaheim Convention Center
Massive Open bracket and stages for:
Halo
Gears
Call of Duty
Overwatch
Grand Finals for each in the attached Arena on Sunday.
Last tweet of the night, but just saying.
If Microsoft/AB let me run MLG from within, gave me the ability to run CWL next to Halo (and their amazing esports team) and other internal IP, we would build the most powerful internal marketing engine in the industry.
Bring back folks like @ActonPies@addrake and other super stars from MLG & CWL (and there are lot chomping at the bit to get another crack at this).
It doesn't need 100s of employees or $100m in funding. It could literally be folded into internal marketing beats and lift all ships. It can also be done fiscally efficient with common sense and reasonable spending.
Would send shockwaves through the industry.
Mom’s only request at the hospital yesterday: “Could you maybe do another halo charity tournament for my cancer research? I like watching them play halo.”
@Halo community let’s get to work!
@MrAdamAp@MLGSundance@msepso@Tashi343i I’m gonna need your help to do this right!
Excited to partner with CDL to help with broadcast and production this year.
Our team has an outsized passion for Call of Duty esports, and we're grateful to get the chance to play a small role with the CDL team.
15 years ago without any experience and no money, I rented out a ballroom in Wheeling, WV, borrowed 20 TVs and Xboxes, made a website, and ran a tournament all to find more people to play Halo:CE with
Full circle.
I don’t want this to be taken the wrong way because I love what COD league is doing but...
Domination needs to go. Do all HP and SND. Just my opinion but it’s too tough to follow and not great.
Hey @XboxP3, congrats on the acquisition, AB is a perfect fit!
Amidst the massive move you made you also gained a small but mighty asset called @MLG. More than ever, that brand is needed in today’s rudderless esports world.
Would love to be involved in that resurrection
Not accurate.
He was told he was removed due to his sign but was clearly told he could come back
All good and false alarm. If he has issues he can come to me
We made pendants for every champs winner, no pomp or anything for a presentation, just something cool for champions.
Player name on one side, game logo on the other
I do not work at CWL, CDL, MLG, ATVI, Blizzard, nor gamebattles anymore.
Please yell at the appropriate people for your match dispute, seeding issue, etc. My house survived 17 years of threats to burn it down, please don’t harm it when I don’t work there anymore.
Just think. This event is for freaking HCS points and a small amount of cash. Also online.
Wait until they're playing for hundreds of thousands of dollars on the heels of a 272 team bracket, in front of thousands.
GGs.
Teams ranked 5-32 in the world were invited to this event (140 players)
Every team had 6 best of 5s to either qualify or stay alive.
Didn't qualify from pools? You get a double elimination bracket to make it.
The best teams will make it. Not sure what else we can do.
I love browsing esports reddits and seeing fans rip the production level of a perfectly fine live event that they watch for $0 while simultaneously not understanding how egregiously expensive esports events are to operate due to NFL expectations with highschool football revenue
Okay, after OpTic won map 1, some dude just did a standing back flip in front of the stage and the fans surrounding him fell down like hit with a grenade when he landed
@OpTic fans are insane. What is happening in this venue.
After assessing feedback we will be adding a 6th headset to the main stage for Pro League to allow for Coaches to more easily communicate with their team between MAPS.
We will assess how this rolls out and adjust accordingly for Open events.
Someone has to stop Damon. If he gets another ring, he could wipe out half the known galaxy with a snap of his fingers.
Did we learn nothing from Infinity War?
Want to fix esports?
Stop hiring the same people that:
Don’t play video games, or even like them
Don’t care about the space
Make enormous amounts of cash
Spend money like idiots
Want to know why revenue is unsustainable? Because the costs are too high. See above why.
"How do I get my foot in the door?"
Me: Best way is to work an event position. They're paid & entry level, usually paying $12-15 per hr along w/ free entry to the event, plus some gear!
"Oh...well I'll pass, that's not enough money"
Make the most of every opportunity.
Doors will open at 8AM and competition starts at 10AM as originally planned. Still working on the match schedule changes for pools and open.
Let's finish the largest bracket in COD history in 2 days.
PS for those chasing esports dreams..I grew up in a tiny village on the Ohio river. I had never been on a flight before the age of 22 and now I've seen the world.
If you want it, take it. Don't let anything get in the way of your goal.
Absolutely blessed.
I'll never understand why people spend $100s (Thousands) to fly to events, stay in a hotel, buy a ticket...and then harass other attendees.
Zero tolerance policy for this type of behavior.
Pretty proud of this
Every angle in the stadium has a great viewing experience
The top is all projection mapping and will change based on game happenings
Also some cool surprises for Sunday
GG
My niece is afflicted with Cystinosis, a rare disease that afflicts 1000ish in the US
The new medicine Procysbi costs $1,000 PER PILL ($60k/month). Her insurance won't cover this medicine so she has to get sicker at @nationwidekids to prove she qualifies. Greed &children SUFFER
Damn.
Fero was a great kid, that is heart breaking.
I would love to see the leagues and teams invest into mental health and support programs for the players (kudos to those that have already). Life is already tough, covid just magnifies it and these “pros” live in the crucible
Unless you have real proof, I’d be careful. Women already have a horrific time navigating gaming careers, why make it harder unless you have something irrefutable?
Be as wise as you are strong with this one, peoples reputation’s are on the line
15 years ago at 22 fresh out of college with a son on the way that I had no clue how to take care of I took a job with MLG for $400 a month and planned a 13 city national circuit with no prior experience, no fanfare about 'dream job', and certainly no budget.
Extremely proud
I am excited to announce the launch of our new company, Esports Engine, a client-first turnkey esports operations company.
Follow us at @esportseng for updates

5 days out CWL Fortworth is double the attendance of the 2017 version at the same point in time of sales and well ahead of previous COD Anaheim’s.
Based on today, I would bet that this event will be our biggest CWL open ever for live attendance, by a wide margin
Excited to announce We are launching the Major Esports Engine League Gaming Pro Circuit (MEELG)
Halo
Madden
Soul caliber
Call of Duty
CSGO
Smash
Dota
LOL
CSGO
RB6
Gears
Tekken
All one venue, all coming to a city near you
Messing with @Froste on Twitter is like picking a fight with the dude at the bar in sweats with cauliflower ear. It isn’t going to end well.
Congrats on your new ink Mr CEO @Nadeshot
Why tweet this?
Your organization, the other teams, the league, and a lot of people are working very hard for this event to have a LAN for you guys.
This is so counter productive to building in the right direction
Halo gametypes are semi timeless but 343 making the change for Oddball to be round based is the best meta change I've ever seen for an established setting.
WoW.
Just had this announced over the PA on my flight
"Bad news is we are still not taking off"
"But the good news is that another flight on the runway noticed one of our access doors was still open so it's great we didn't take off!"
Help.
These Lottie posts are childish and out of line. CDL is lucky to have her and I guarantee you Katie doesn’t want another female talent getting harrassed on social.
Be better than this.
How crazy is it @JoeDeLuca took an entry level job in comp ops with me in 2016 after retiring and graduating college, had never been on camera before, and now is a premiere on air talent for esports?
Feeling nostalgic and so proud of our team
I turn 40 today&approaching 19 years working in esports, some thoughts
Work hard. People notice
No job is too small
Treat people how you want to be treated
Be a fierce enemy and a ferocious friend
If you're not supported, go somewhere where you are. Life is too short to dawdle
Dana White just confirmed on Fox that all 3 people that jumped Connor were arrested. This whole thing is far from over...in and out of the cage. Super sad as a mega UFC fan
My mom worked 3 jobs while I was in highschool to buy me basketball shoes because I cried when I got bullied for wearing Air Avias from Gabriel’s
Thankful to be able to take her on vacation for thanksgiving. Thankful for this space.
You should come to the office one weekend and do a guest spot on CDL (to be clear, I don't have the authority to green light that...but I know a guy :P) and then we can do the Flank live on site.
Then we can get delicious Italian food in town.
I have always dreamed of a room of massive open brackets similar to Evo but for games like Halo, Call of Duty, Gears, Overwatch etc.
10,000 people in room LANNING. Talk about hitting your core demo right in their 'take my money' soul
I was 24 years old when MLG received its first round of funding, and I was not 'in the room' for many of the top line decisions.
This was on the heels of a nearly 25 city 2 year tour in 2004 and 2005, where for the first year I arrived alone in a city to unload 52' trailers, deploy 200 CRTs, lay down power, set up projectors, and prepare the event by myself until Puckett got out of Highschool geometry and could fly out or when we finally got John Nelson on the team.
So much hard work. So much squandered opportunity. 42 year old me looks back and gets very disheartened for the kid that broke his back for people
One day the MLG story will come out.
Since I can’t help myself, I toured the arena facilities at my resort in Cancun with their meeting planners
40 foot ceilings
150,000 sq feet of space
Beach front
All inclusive
I’m making this happen
The number of times @Clayster has been dropped or tossed to the side only to return to vie for the top of the heap is insane.
He might not have the most wins in COD history, but he is vying for top player of all time at this point
Incredible. This man never quits.
So when are we going to start talking about how @Shotzzy won WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
not just a tournament
WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
For Halo and CoD from ages 16-18.
This is unprecedented insane animal history making activity. Pantheon material
