Updated predictions for the EU 🇪🇺 VRS rankings race to qualify to the Budapest Major. Race is on for the final ~4 spots, with competition from 12th all the way to 22nd. DracuLAN and Blast London have caused significant swing but its all still to play for.

Here are the predictions for the Americas 🌎 qualification to the Budapest Major. A pivot in the balance compared to previous majors Theres a 37% chance less than 3 NA 🇺🇸 teams qualify NA CS somewhat suffering in this VRS system due to the imbalance in points on offer.

For full clarity there is an error here, centred around ex Inner Circle. As they have so few matches (only one win before Birch), their form was incorrectly represented for their matches. It is possible for them to make the major (just with quite the run). Theyd be required to have a deep run at CCT, ideally win this final and deep run at Frag for LANW (finish point can vary on starting point).

Final Americas 🌎 VRS Major predictions Looks like MRQ's are back on the menu with the final couple days of the Americas VRS race for the major. All on the line for teams at Circuit X 🇧🇷 and FRAG Blocktober 🇺🇸 No missteps possible now.

I disagree with this sentiment as all of these teams have had far bigger events where they couldve secured the major earlier. This final spot shouldnt even exist really if it wasnt for VP's visa issue. This situation is essentially just one of the 3rd place playins of old. If FNATIC (CQ), ECSTATIC (CQ), OG & 9INE had done better at Starseries they couldve secured the major, as the likes of NiP and B8 effectively did. Starseries was essentially the effective RMR and they didnt have the run. Theres further tournaments where these teams could have performed at too, BLAST London, ECL results, Exort etc. FRAG's importance is exaggerated due to what has occurred, this race couldve ended weeks ago though.

Heres the updated predictions for the Americas 🌎VRS rankings to qualify to the Major. Not too many changes, notably Passion UA did just jump from 77% to 95% after beating M8. Alot of teams have been fluctuating over the past few days after painful losses in ECL.

Only had to double check 5 times I was buying flights to Budapest and not Bucharest. See you at the major, only need to tank a horrifically early flight.

How does this affect the chance of making the major? (This was calculated before the current M8 vs Inner Circle match, this is more an evaluation of the decision) M8: This does slightly hurt their chances, but by an incredibly small 1 or 2%. Due to their anchor, their gain rate is weakened. Losses are incredibly limiting and having a guaranteed loss in the Quarters is quite the limitation (this was an assumed exit point). Swapping to EPL also means that good performance will mean no cash earnt, which (while small) is of some benefit whilst having a full LAN bucket where decayed wins are being replaced. This is a change which mostly affects who theyre fighting the final major spots for, with now a direct matchup against HEROIC. That opening match is crucial for both teams. Theyll also get the benefits of potential bigger H2H wins at EPL, but this is somewhat offset by the baked in loss. Overall for M8 this is a fine change, it has little overall major impact. This also has significant benefit for the future with the chance of making the EPL. Fnatic: Fnatic will have declined the invite for it to drop to M8. Fnatic are in a similarly difficult situation, but with a bigger Anchor penalty affecting their seed modifier gains. This bigger anchor makes the potential larger H2H gains rather appealing, as well as key matches against major competition helping close the gap. Again its a small change, but Fnatic wouldve seen a slight net benefit from attending EPL (assuming that FRAG groups arent covered and they couldve gone out 3rd in their group). This benefit is due to their higher penalty making the EPL teamlsit a better source of points as well as that key swing against HEROIC. This is mostly just the risk / reward of swapping to EPL and having to spend a loss to do so.

Really enjoyed this LAN. Everyone on the team has done exceptional this event and been a privilege again to be part of the team. Loved speaking to everyone, stats will be out later in the week. Prep for next event starts tomorrow after a big sleep.

With @fragadelphia Blocktober being the effective RMR, here is how it affects major qualification for the teams in attendance. Simulated maximum potential gain from FRAG for each team, assumes groups are covered and new model is used. While this doesnt account for other tournaments, alot of teams cap out on LANW, limiting future gain.

The first month of the new VRS system has concluded. There have been 114 finishes awarding VRS points. Not a single one of these tournaments has had open qualifiers, all relying on VRS invites. The open circuit.

I thought UKCS had moved on from its RattlesnK hate

Its somewhat hard to convey as everyone often uses points to describe VRS, but points dont really exist. Points are unique and relative to the specific time. The reason why the points change is occurring is due to a context change with LAN wins becoming more common, essentially devaluing the benefit of a LAN win. This has been expected for a while. Youre not actually losing / gaining anything, you keep the same bounty earnt, lan matches won etc. In this case (dependent points can vary but thats not too relevant here) Essentially whats happening is the ranking system is adjusting with the acknowledgement LAN wins are more prevalent and changing the context. In this new context it perceives G2 as having performed better. If this context had been applied the whole time you would have always been below G2 in the past few days, and it wouldve been clearer that a Liquid win would lead to stage 3.

Theyre not really losing points. Points dont really exist and are only really an expression of difference for that specific point in time's ranking. 1000 Points from a month ago isnt necessarily the same as now. The minimum prizepool guaranteed is increasing the bounty offered clamp point, essentially changing the context of the ranking system and that point loss is the reflection of where the Mongolz are in the new context.

Highest rating at epic is a bit of a surprise

nah. this match did the most damage as it changed when they would be able to drop out to (and whom) hltv.org/matches/2386063/gen… Decision to attend EPL was without a doubt the right decision. Theyve had a great run so far and theyre in a good spot for the future.

Previous sim is mostly useless post the FRAG coverage change, that -1 (likely easy) LAN win swing is pretty huge. Will be a big benefit to teams trying to hold their opponents off. By observation, i think ive made an error for Liquid S2 too. Cant find whats wrong Update tmrrw
