terrible explanation for the situation, doesn't factor in status dynamics. better would be "oh hey I had an idea to save time, if you check the middle of the tape you can see which half the theft happened at" the police probably felt patronized and reacted by not listening.

we need more stages of enlightenment to motivate people they're making progress 1st stage: being able to sit by yourself without suffering massively/wanting to get up 2nd stage: being able to meditate in a way that's enjoyable 3rd stage: having any insight at all into emptiness, No-self, even a glimpse 4th stage: being able to repeatedly glimpse/see that the self sense is just a sense and not "actually you" 5th stage: this seeing becomes more automatic and eventually your default identification shifts away from self (likely to awareness) 6th stage: ... goes on ... stages of enlightenment is a meme name ofc, levels or something, people need the skill tree in higher resolution though!

this is ~all of rationalist "introspection" imo. real introspection requires deep impartiality and curiosity, waiting for an answer, being ok with nothing arising, or answers not making sense
I have a pet theory that when people introspect about themselves, their brain sometimes just scrambles to generate relevant content. So they feel like they're gaining insight into deeper parts of themselves when they're actually just inventing it on the fly.
