32 years ago, 96 innocent people were unlawfully killed, yet still nobody has been brought to justice. For those who claim the establishment don't close ranks when their wrongdoing is exposed, today's ruling is a prime example that justice only applies to some.
BREAKING: Hillsborough: The judge has STOPPED the trial of two ex South Yorkshire police officers and the force's lawyer, for perverting the course of justice over amending officers' statements. He has ruled there is NO case to answer. 1/3

Glad that the Government have finally done the right thing and maintained the 80% furlough - not the 67% they were offering Tier 3 areas across the North. Now we know for sure that the Government thinks workers in the North were worth 13% less than those in the South.
Following the PM’s announcement on further restrictions across the country we have decided to extended the furlough scheme for a further month covering 80% of employees’ wages.

There are families just coming to terms with yesterday’s events, parents grieving for their murdered children and survivors still trying to process what they witnessed. The violent scenes in Southport tonight will only further traumatise a community that is already struggling to come to terms with this attack. Mindless violence directed at the very people who ran towards the danger yesterday, and outright Islamaphobia, only distract from the work of delivering justice. The real story tonight is of the thousands who gathered at the vigil in Southport in memory of Bebe, Elsie and Alice. For the sake of their loved ones, this disorder needs to stop so the police do their jobs.

Devastated to see this wonderful community asset ravaged by thugs. Last year, we invested to transform it into a resource to help improve local people's lives. Last night, ransacked by people who simply do not care for our area. This is not protest. This is an insult to those families still grieving and survivors still struggling to make sense of Monday's attack. There can and must be consequences. They will feel the full force of the law.

This from the Guardian will make for uncomfortable reading in government today. While the Leveling Up White Paper will cover a lot of ground, it can't escape the fact that it isn't matched by much-needed funding.

Nobody is more made up than me to see @LFC champions again but this is dangerous. We're not saying this to be party poopers but hundreds of people have already died in our region because of Coronavirus. Until it's safe for us to come together to, please celebrate at home.
Celebrations are continuing into a second evening in Liverpool - but please remember that #COVID19 still poses a threat. It’s vital that you keep your distance from others who are not in your household.
