Ok, I promised a thread, so here we go! For a long time, people have looked at $GALA in fundamentally the wrong way - people have seen what we are doing as a gaming token (and we started with that public trajectory with games, so that is fair), but as time has gone by, we have grown into larger and better directions. So, today, I am going to kick off a thread explaining a few things you might not know about the $GALA and #GalaChain ecosystems. Here are a few facts: We are the largest contributor to IPFS’s DHT table structure by a LONG shot. This means that, whether they know it or not, most of #web3 actively depends on the whole $GALA community to keep running their Founder’s Nodes. Your favorite pfp project probably has data routed through our ecosystem, whether they know it or not. What does this mean? It means that $GALA is not only a gaming token for a the @GoGalaGames ecosystem (and amazing games like @Last_Expedition, @TWDEmpires, @MirandusGame etc), the gas for our kickass L1 #GalaChain (and every kickass project built there, whether @GoGalaMusic and the whole $MUSIC ecosystem or projects like $VGX on GalaChain), but also one of the largest #DePIN projects in existence. The magnitude of this fact will become increasingly clear in the near future, but #GalaChain and the whole $GALA ecosystem are here to power the future of the internet. We aren’t just a little flash in the pan bullshit crypto project - we are building the future together. I can’t wait for people to realize what has been built throughout this whole bear market. You build during the winter so that when spring comes, you can explode out to reach new audiences and heights of utility for the whole ecosystem. - Streaming content from the world’s largest and most performant node ecosystem - check. - Building an infrastructure that can scale to handle 5m simultaneous web2-style video streams - check. - Create a point-and-click Creators Portal to allow people to deploy to #GalaChain without any stress, bringing #web2 ease and simplicity to #web3 - check. - Create a decentralized VoD system that can handle some of the largest demands out there - in a way that completely negates the need for centralized storage. - check. The next few weeks are going to be interesting - there are some new things soft-launching, some audit reports nearing completion, and some community initiatives ramping into high gear. We will brook no bullshit and accept no barriers in our path to redefine this whole industry. We invite everyone to come along and build with us and alongside us. WEDNESDAY #ALPHA THREAD! UPDATES FOR THOSE RETURNING TO $GALA! Welcome back! #GalaChain is LIVE! #GalaSwap is popping! Lots and lots going on! For those following the threads, today we are going to talk about node workloads! There is some heavy alpha at the bottom, so make sure you read it all! Starting point: $GALA is the absolute daddy of #dePIN. We deployed a performant node network years ago and have been active supporters of IPFS since the first half of 2021. For years, the Gala Founder’s Node ecosystem has been supporting the decentralized internet. Most queries going through the IPFS touch our nodes in one way or another. We are currently working on a way to VISUALIZE this, but until then you just have to go with the ProbeLabs.io docs I have linked previously, cross-referenced by the Gala Analytics site. Right now, everyone who plays Last Expedition (lastexpedition.game/) happens on a Last Expedition node operated by the community of node operators. When AWS East went down for a bit last year, Last Expedition didn’t! This demonstrates the resilience and power of this ecosystem and the heart and soul of why decentralization is important. This week, I was told of 7 different projects currently working on node workloads to be pushed to the network. This doesn’t include any of the things that have previously been announced (games, Rep, etc) Hopefully, you will start seeing these announced by these third parties within the next few weeks…I am personally very excited to see what they do! Is it Wednesday thread time? The last two days have been absolutely epic and have seriously outsized implications for the whole $GALA ecosystem. Last night, we kicked off an entrepreneurship course at @FIT with Renee Leibler and William Reinisch. This is the beginning of a rollout to 250+ universities, contributing to web3 and entrepreneurship courses and groups. We recognize the power that these institutions have in driving tech adoption. It was excellent to connect with the students, listen to their ideas and plans, and to share some of the stuff I have done on morphological analysis for ideation. So many awesome ideas...I can't believe wait to judge the competition and help students bring their projects to completion (hopefully on #GalaChain!). I also signed off on a $1m USD value prize pool for our GalaChain Hackathon at GDC in a couple of weeks. We are waiting to announce our partner in this hackathon, but I am pretty sure you guys will be happy when we do. Can't wait for this one! I also had an opportunity to sit down and talk to @GoGalaMusic's President of Music, @galaleila, to hammer down some of the points for the roadmap and updates to the $MUSIC ecosystem. Now, I am on my way back to the office for the last half of the week. I am going to be working with @Benefactor0101, @mark_skaggs, @bmercedesesq, @adamu__ and the whole rest of the $GALA crew on creating a more integrated engineering pipeline. The last couple of years have seen interesting at Gala because we have had a somewhat fragmented engineering structure due to working remote. However, as we move to a more in-person context, we are seeing massive increases in effectiveness and efficiency, as well as accelerating timelines. It's going to be interesting! Buckle up!
