I can’t sugarcoat it:
Building in this space over the last two years has been a slog. Watching friends go out of business. Hearing amazing, talented founders rightly describe these last few years in web3 as ‘agony’, while seeing money and attention go to outright scams.
Building Basejump has been the hardest and riskiest decision I’ve made professionally. But as the final stages of the platform come together, I can’t help but feel optimistic.
We might not make it, but this future we’re reaching for - interoperable game assets, a social discovery layer for worlds and games - it’s a big idea, it means something.
At the very least, I hope it inspires others to work on creating better, next-gen Internet applications that put the end user in control of their data, identity and assets in ways that appeal to many people.
I just want to see the real builders out here win.
You know who you are.
