The Metropolitan Police Federation is a Staff Association representing more than 30,000 police officers in London. Page Not Monitored. #ProtectTheProtectors
We are aware of video footage that is circulating on social media this evening following the stopping of a car in Hackney. Our colleagues want to be able to share their Body Worn Video of the incident and as a Federation we are calling for this to happen.
Being a firearms officer in London is one of the world's toughest jobs. Officers - volunteers - know the responsibility/accountability that comes with it and deserve our support. Ill-informed commentary from those in positions of power following any tragic incident is unwarranted
Once again Notting Hill Carnival marred by serious violence - and attacks on Police Officers. 75 of our colleagues assaulted. Six bitten. One sexually assaulted. One in hospital. This is absolutely disgusting. No wonder our members dread policing this event. #ProtectTheProtectors
“This was supposed to be ‘family day’... We are tired of saying the same words every year. We are tired of telling families that their loved ones are seriously injured, or worse. We are tired of seeing crime scenes at Carnival." news.met.police.uk/news/met-…
"A lovely man highly respected by his colleagues". Tributes paid to our murdered colleague Sgt Matt Ratana tonight. He leaves a partner and an adult son from a previous relationship. Our thoughts are with them, his family and close colleagues #PoliceFamily#LestWeForget
Remembering PC Yvonne Fletcher, of the Metropolitan Police. Shot and killed on duty on this day in 1984. She was 25. We will remember her. #LestWeForget
Update: 74 Metropolitan Police officers were injured across the two days of the Notting Hill Carnival. These are people's sons and daughters. These are children's mothers and fathers. This happens every year. It's an utter disgrace. We wish all brave colleagues a swift recovery
15 more colleagues injured in deplorable scenes. Police officers are not punchbags. This violence is despicable. We wish our injured colleagues all well. standard.co.uk/news/crime/ca…
NEW: Following a meeting of colleagues today, The Metropolitan Police Federation has declared it has no faith in London Mayor Sadiq Khan. See our full statement: metfed.org.uk/the-metropolit…
15 Metropolitan Police officers assaulted at the Notting Hill Carnival yesterday. Punched, headbutted, spat at. Sadly predictable. We wish all injured colleagues well and continue to support all officers working at the event. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c4ge…
Remembering PC Yvonne Fletcher, of the Metropolitan Police. Shot and killed on duty on this day in 1984. She was 25. We will remember her. #LestWeForget
These are appalling words from Emergency Services colleagues. Police and firefighters often work side by side in testing environments - they should be showing solidarity. For the FBU to make such a sweeping statement without being aware of the facts is embarrassingly out of touch
The Metropolitan Police Federation, and the officers we represent, remain astonished that a brave colleague could be charged with murder, doing the job that society expects of him.
Statement: "The ramifications of this case remain widespread; police officers should not have their livelihoods, and their liberty, put at risk for performing what unequivocally, in this case, was his lawful and appropriate function." metfed.org.uk/news/sgt-marty…
Sad to report at least 34 Metropolitan Police officers were assaulted at this year's Notting Hill Carnival. We are supporting colleagues. Every year our brave officers come under attack at this event. Colleagues dread policing it. And yet nothing changes. #ProtectTheProtectors
The Metropolitan Police Federation is supporting a brave firearms colleague involved in a recent incident in South London - and we are also supporting their family. Our thoughts are with all affected. The Federation will be making no further comment at this time.

This banner has been unfurled mere metres away from where our colleague PC Keith Palmer was murdered protecting democracy. That’s all you need to know about these people.
Some good news. Our Female colleague stabbed in Leicester Square has been discharged from hospital. Our Male colleague who was stabbed three times in the neck and once in the chest remains under medical supervision. #PoliceFamily#ProtectTheProtectorsstandard.co.uk/news/crime/po…
Chair Rick Prior: “Officers will be extremely saddened & angry to hear this news. The families of officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice to keep the public safe will be equally dismayed. I urge the Commissioner to urgently reconsider this decision." thesun.co.uk/news/30644561/m…
Remembering all the victims of the 7/7 bombings in London in 2005 - and the brave emergency services colleagues who responded. Running towards the danger and working tirelessly to help.
A Met police officer and their dog who chased down a group of extremely dangerous men, even after having a gun pointed at them, have been nominated for the National #PoliceBravery Awards 2023. #AmazingWork from PC Adam Elwood and PC Howlin: polfed.org/events/police-bra…
As a lawyer we would expect the Mayor of London to believe, respect and understand that everyone has a right to a fair hearing. That should include our members. Trying to prejudice the outcome is a scandalous new low. To remind we have no faith in @SadiqKhan
This case is yet another example of why it is vital that the next Commissioner has a more effective plan to tackle the serious cultural issues within the Met Police and to regain the trust of Londoners.
A Metropolitan Police officer who was violently attacked with a sword but still managed to arrest the attacker despite being slashed has been nominated for The National #PoliceBravery Awards. Congratulations to PC Aksit Ekrem facebook.com/MetFederation/p…
Colleagues in New Zealand have performed a Haka to remember their fallen colleagues at their Police Remembrance Day service. This year they included Sgt Matt Ratana, of @MetPoliceUK, amongst those they remembered. Thank You.
PC Andrew Cushing seized a split-second opportunity to apprehend an armed suspect as he found himself looking down the barrel of a gun. He's now been nominated for a National #PoliceBravery Award: polfed.org/events/police-bra…
Unbelievably this morning at the London Assembly the Mayor of London has - yet again - not told the truth about the words of the Chairman of the Metropolitan Police Federation. This shows a complete lack of integrity from an elected individual.
The widow of hero police officer PC Andrew Harper is launching a campaign for “Andrew’s Law” - which would see criminals convicted of killing emergency services workers spend the rest of their lives in jail. thamestalk.co.uk/?p=118034
Sad to report a serious injury to a colleague last night. Stabbed in west London. We wish him well and he is being fully supported. Thankfully injuries are not as bad as they could have been. Yet again shows the dangers Metropolitan Police officers face each and every every day.
Remembering PC Yvonne Fletcher of the Metropolitan Police. Shot and killed on duty on this day in 1984. She was 25. We will remember her. #LestWeForget
Police Officers have no choice but to use their cars when they start working at 4am/5am or finish in the early hours. They will be forced to pay £12.50 a day extra to keep the public safe at a time of poor pay & food banks. What a disgusting way for the Mayor to treat the Police.
🚨 Extraordinary broadside against Sadiq Khan's Ultra-low emission zone in London on @LBC...
From Care England's Professor Martin Green.
Warns the £12.50 daily charge will place "enormous" pressure on carers and the NHS, who'll be unable to afford to work in London.

Today we come together to remember the life of Metropolitan Police officer Sgt Matt Ratana at a Memorial Service. A colleague who will never be forgotten.
The Metropolitan Police Federation were bemused - and a bit confused - to hear the @MayorOfLondon on @LBC this morning claim we haven’t spoken to him or his office to arrange a meeting. Our Chair and Secretary are meeting him on Monday. It’s in the diary.
Poor pay and morale means police officers aren’t staying in the service and we are losing valuable experience... Police officers are quitting in record numbers. Voluntary resignations are at their highest level since comparable records began in 2003. polfed.org/news/latest-news/…
There is a dangerous narrative emerging that British Police officers are the bad guys/girls. We are not. We are just trying to keep people safe & do our difficult job of upholding the law. We need the public to come with us. There is no excuse for violence against our colleagues.
Horrendous news #PoliceFamily as Nottinghamshire Police announce the death of Sgt Graham Saville. Sgt Saville died from injuries sustained on duty on Thursday when he was struck by a train trying to save a man's life. Thoughts with his family, friends and colleagues at this time.
To attack brave police officers - or our superb police horses - is unacceptable. We wish all colleagues - including those on four legs - well in the face of this mindless violence.
Two Metropolitan Police officers who were bravely responding to the terrorist attack in Streatham have been left dumbstruck after being told they are under investigation by the IOPC for their actions that day. See the full astonishing story here facebook.com/178199445527152…

Hackney car stop: Chairman Ken Marsh tells @LBC this afternoon that his colleagues were simply doing their job - sadly this appears to be becoming increasingly difficult.
The stabbing of two @metpoliceuk officers challenging a man with a knife in central London this morning "highlights the bravery of our officers who run towards danger", Chair Ken Marsh has said today. "My heart goes out to my two brave colleagues" who suffered serious injuries.
Congratulations to PC Wayne Marques and PC Charlie Guenigault who collected their George Medals for Bravery today. And PC Leon McLeod who collected the Queen’s Gallantry Medal.
PC Alannah Mulhall and PC Joe Gerrard, who put their lives at risk to protect colleagues and the public, trying to detain a knifeman who had stabbed both of them in a frenzied attack, have been nominated for the national #PoliceBravery Awards 2024 polfed.org/events/police-bra…

Chairman Ken Marsh scheduled to be on @BBCRadioLondon at 5.20pm responding to comments from today’s @CommonsHomeAffs. We can categorically say we will not be apologising for the lawful actions of our hard-working colleagues. Policing should not be saying sorry for doing our job.
A @metpoliceuk officer who narrowly avoided being killed by a knife-wielding suspect but still chased down her assailant has nominated for The National #PoliceBravery Awards metfed.org.uk/a-metropolitan… Congratulations Sgt Natalie Markham
