MLB’s diversity numbers show that MLB is 6 percent Black American. However, if not for the tremendous efforts of MLB Develops and MLB Diversity team leaders, former players, coaches and managers, that percentage could be less. So while some lament a percentage that all Black baseball fans wished was higher, we can’t ignore the players who have defied the odds, keep the tradition alive and are currently the inspiration for a new generation. The future is bright.
