Luc (from ENS) here, here are some things I'd like to add personally:
The ENS DAO, and to a fair extend ENS Labs are open and transparent, Labs expenses are clearly outlined in proposals and voted on by the community, the DAO working groups are full of some amazing people ๐ who try their best every day to better the protocol.
Our values are of purity, not shady business practices. ENS has put an immense amount of effort into decentralization, funding public goods, and fulfilling our constitution's articles.
UD bribes for integrations, its been the bane of my existence, occasionally I get approached by people looking to have ENS and UD bid against one another for an integration. I personally find this ridiculous, the ENS DAO has grants available for those with good intentions, and definitely does not partake in extortion.
ENS is an open protocol, not web2 corporate. The DAO gives grants to public goods and ecosystem buildors โญ๏ธ
ENS is, to date, the only truely censorship resistant protocol, UD has been known to rug domains at their leasure "for marketing purposes", they just admin overwrite squatters lol ๐
Although ENS Labs has an... interesting approach to marketing. You will NEVER catch us spam dm-ing, bribing, pinging
@everyone 10 times a day, or borderline harrassing you ๐
๐
Yes we dont spent milions on a booth (tho ETHDenver was expensive as fuck), on paid integrations, artificially inflate our market, or play with numbers to please investors,
But thats cuz we aint a centralised vc-funded intrusive corporate web2 company that started as an ENS subregistrar ๐๐คทโโ๏ธ
๐
Anyhow, hope that gives a bit of insight, on how we compare. And by all means, favor UD if you are one of the VCs that back them, but ENS is here for the people, and it always will be.
Gm frens ๐ซก stay safe out there
