Comparing @Polkadot to monolithic chains for noobs. I often hear a lot of chatter about how monolithic chains like Solana are miles ahead of Polkadot because the Polkadot Relay Chain has so few transactions running on it, and I want to try and explain in simple terms why these comparisons are like comparing apples to oranges. Monolithic L1 chains like Solana have every "service" running on them. Think of a service as DEXs, prediction markets, whatever you as a user interact with in web3. This means that the monolithic chain will obviously have quite a lot of transactions being processed directly on it. This is where Polkadot is different. The main Polkadot Relay Chain does NOT have these kind of services running on it, in fact, most of these user facing services are hosted on parachains – Hydration for the DEX, Mythos for games, Neuroweb for AI, etc. On most websites that compare TPS of various chains, the transactions that occur on Polkadot rollups do not count towards the main Polkadot Relay Chain's txn count. Again, the main Polkadot chain is not supposed to have a high amount of transactions. Think of Polkadot as a protocol that secures other blockchains, or in other words, it is a thing that hosts rollups. You can see here that 50% of the top rollups by their transaction count are actually hosted on Polkadot: nitter.app/thekusamarian/status/1… But we need to go even lower! The main Polkaot Relay Chain will have EVEN FEWER transactions in the coming months. This is part of the "minimal relay chain" concept, where staking, governance, and other "services" running on the main Polkadot Relay Chain will be migrated to other parachains/rollups that are secured by Polkadot. You may have heard of this being named "plaza", where the Polkadot Asset Hub rollup will host some of these services, as well as having smart contract capabilities. On-chain identity logic has already been migrated away from the main Polkadot Relay Chain to the Polkadot Poeple Chain rollup. This, once again, means that the main Polkadot Chain will have real-world transactions, but it isn't actually a bad thing, it's a good thing. You can find out more about the minimal relay chain and the types of services that are going to be migrated here: github.com/polkadot-fellows/… I hear the FUDooors now... "oooh so Polkadot can't handle any amount of transactions? How lame" - well dear fudoooor you're straight up wrong. On Kusama (Polkadot's sister network) we conducted a stress test known as "The Spammening". 23 out of 100 cores were used (the 100 cores isn't the top limit, it's an arbitrary number that has since been increased on Kusama), and it resulted in 100k+ TPS - which is probably higher than whatever chain you are comparing against. Again, in production, not on a theoretical testnet. Oh, yeah, that was only 23 of the cores, so scale that up you can assume that Kusama, therefore Polkadot, could handle 623k TPS, which I'm gonna say is higher than your monolithic chain: nitter.app/TheKusamarian/status/1… Here's a writeup about that for the uninformed: nitter.app/Polkadot/status/187020… There will be another Spammening on Polkadot, fairly soon, and you will once again see that comparing monolithic chains to Polkadot is a fools errand. But keep telling me how Polkadot is dead while it secures a fuck tonne of rollups with high TPS and real world usage, I love the engagement.

Polkadot Coretime is sold out once again! 🤯 Starting price of Dutch auction: April: ~9 DOT May: ~90 DOT June (predicted): ~900 DOT The ELI5 is that if all the available cores are purchased, the initial starting price in the next month is 10x higher than the sale of the last available core in the previous month. These parameters are adjustable via governance. Here's a graph I made a while ago that shows the different periods of coretime sales. The numbers I used are arbitrary, but hopefully it helps to explain it for you.

Wish everyone who has received @polkadot & @kusamanetwork treasury funds would actively engage with the community to provide frequent updates as to the progress they have made. You basically have agreed to a social contract to make something on behalf of the token holder DAO – your reputation is on the line, and you should deliver on your promises. If you have issues with delivering, the best course of action is to be transparent about your issues imo. You should provide updates on the various governance dapps, direction channels, etc. not being transparent isn't a good way at approaching the situation imo. The @TheKusamarian Attempts at Governance show is a great place to provide some additional context to your updates.

Polkadot Vault v7.0.0 = no more updating chain metadata. Gone are the days of needing to scan each chain's metadata after every runtime upgrade. Now your wallet can simply present you with an animated QR code that you scan using your Polkadot Vault, and everything just works. Currently, it seems this functionality is only available in Nova Wallet, but I expect it to be available in every wallet soon.

Thanks to everyone that showed up, was a great mix of Polkadot ecosystem agents, web3 (non-Polkadot) people and a bunch of people who weren't involved in blockchain tech but were interested to find out more about web3! Some of us often forget why cryptocurrency and web3 exist. Don't trust, verify. The existing institutions are not your friends. "The Times 03/Jan/2009 Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks.": the message from the Bitcoin genesis block. During 2008, the UK government bailed out multiple banks, including: 1⃣ Royal Bank of Scotland (now Natwest), to the tune of £45.8 bn 2⃣ Lloyds Banking Group, $20.3 bn 3⃣ Northern Rock, ~£25 bn 4⃣ Bradford & Bingley, $15.65 bn This was all pretty much at the taxpayer's expense. With RBS in particular, it became majority government-owned (nationalized), with the UK government owning 84.4% of their shares. Since then, the UK government has been selling off its stake in RBS (again, it is now called Natwest). All in all, the offloading of these shares has resulted in the UK government earning ~£34.98bn. Remember, the bank got bailed out for £45.8 bn. So the UK government actually sold its stake at a £10.82 bn loss. All funded by the taxpayer. It gets even worse as the £45.8 bn bailout was in 2008/2009 money. The purchasing power of money has gone down over time. I am sure we all know this. Today's £10.82 bn loss, adjusted for this, is around £24.43 bn in 2008/2009 money. Overall, the UK government has made a ~£24.43 bn loss. Which means the taxpayer has made this loss. Shambolic. Remember why this movement started. Don't get lost in the casino. Centralized systems always have issues. I prefer decentralized systems like Bitcoin and Polkadot. At least you know how the sausage is made.

Make Kusama Chaotic Again. It's time that we bring ZK primitives to Kusama, and make it the home for privacy in the Polkadot Ecosystem.

Go back the the stablecoin ED and txn fee reduction referendum and then back even more for some of my personal involvement once I realised the importance. I’ve been fairly vocal about why web3 is important recently - the need for web3 is inherently obvious for those in LATAM and other places such as Turkey and the focus should be on those regions and their needs. Web3 is not a place for people to gamble shitcoins, it has serious actual real world use cases for millions if not billions of people. This is why the next major Polkadot conference should be in LATAM, likely in BA. Let’s make it happen.

Bullish on self-sovereign digital assets that can be used to escape tyranny (literally). If you think I'm being over-dramatic then you clearly haven't been paying attention to the world. Polkadot is an actually decentralized network, with actual decentralized governance. A lot of other networks operate on a snapshot model where someone has to actually "push the button" for things to execute, not Polkadot. Polkadot governance decisions are self-executing. Those other networks are at risk of tyranny, what happens if all your button pressoooors are pursued by one of the amazing 3 letter agencies for developing code or being part of your network in a "decision making" capacity? We could go into some of the other cool shit that @Polkadot enables, but for me, this is the main one. There's a reason DOT and BTC are my main plays. Don't let your "masters" be your own downfall.
