The impeachment trial of Warren Kenneth Paxton, Jr. will begin today, September 5, in the Texas Senate, with members of the Senate serving as the jury in the trial in accordance with the Texas Constitution. I am a member of the Texas House Board of Managers, which means I am among those who will present the case for impeachment before the Senate. I take this responsibility very seriously.
The presiding officer of the Senate and of the impeachment trial, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, has instructed those of us who are involved with the trial not to make public comments about the matter at hand. While I know that public interest in this trial is very high, I am unable to respond to impeachment-related questions from constituents or other Texans while the trial is on-going.
I do want to highlight the resources that can help you follow the trial, which is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. each day. For example, the trial will be broadcast live in its entirety on the Senate website:

A limited number of tickets will be available for those who want to watch the trial in person at the Texas Capitol. More information about how to get a ticket to the trial is available here:

Finally, if you would like to review the motions and evidence that have been filed with the Texas Senate leading up to the case, please visit the Senate Court of Impeachment’s website:

Again, this is a solemn responsibility that I take very seriously. Please keep all involved in the trial in your prayers and thank you for the opportunity to serve.
