The launch coincided precisely with the city's annual snow & ice training initiative, that helps ensure crews are ready to keep roads clear and safe this winter.
It also made us consider how municipal operations such as these could be enhanced by aerial imagery captured by LayerDrone pilots 👇

Through the LayerDrone Network, pilots can capture ultra-high-resolution aerial imagery across Tacoma’s snow routes to map key areas before, during, and after weather events.
This gives city planners a real-time visual layer of their infrastructure, from roads to bridges to emergency corridors.

That data can power:
→ Pre-storm readiness mapping (identifying priority routes and high-risk zones)
→ Post-storm assessments (pinpointing blocked roads, snow accumulation, and damage)
→ Training simulations (using real topographic imagery to improve route planning)
