I went to the merchandise hauler just now where it hit me. Seeing the fans all dressed up in older gear reminded me Throwback weekend is much bigger than paint schemes. This weekend connects new and old fans to our sport’s history in multiple meaningful ways for everyone to enjoy.
I understand the frustrations of trying to execute a great scheme, but also think we should be careful to not dismiss the fans that absolutely love this race.

We went from 2 to 6 Road course races, Possibly 7 next year.
NASCAR was successfully built as a primarily oval racing series. IMSA was built as the primary road course series in North America. IMSA will always do road racing better than NASCAR and that’s ok.

Observation from driver intros-
Most all of the drivers are still sick and dehydrated from last week. I’ve never seen so many sick drivers before the start of the race.
Ryan Blaney fell to his knees multiple times after the race, and stayed down for a while, clearly exhausted. He got up briefly to do a TV interview and went back down. He stayed down, waiting for the AMR Safety team, and road off to the care center on a golf cart. Looked like his legs were cramping — more than likely dehydration.

“A few years ago, a man was sadly killed by lightning after a race and the courts ruled it was NASCAR’s fault. So now to get insurance coverage needed to race, we can’t go race, even when it’s not raining; if lightning is a few miles away.”
Daughter- “Don’t bad things just happen sometimes and it’s nobody’s fault.”
Me- “yes, but some judges don’t believe that and it ruins other’s fun. Their is a lesson in there somewhere.”
