Exciting news — I can finally reveal the domain: NNET․com! 🎉 It’s short for Neural Network, a trending term in the AI world. Interestingly, when I bought it back in 2008, Neural Network wasn’t even on my mind — that meaning only became mainstream in recent years. At the time, I was imagining possible uses like NewsNet, NameNet, NorthNet, NextNet… so this turned out to be a lucky case of the name gaining new relevance over time. My original goal was to push for a 6-figure sale, but after much thought (and a timely reminder from @AlexejKirillov — “If you’re aiming for $100K, how long might you wait for that extra $25K? What could yield a better return: taking $75K now and reinvesting, or holding for years?”), I decided to take a more pragmatic route. I’ve owned NNET․com since 2008, when I bought it for just under $10K after seeing UNET․com sell for $100K. Back then, I emailed every owner of single-letter+net․com domains (except the big ones like CNET․com that were clearly off the market). Over the past 17 years, I never once received an offer higher than my purchase price — until now. This buyer’s initial offer of $10K already matched my cost basis, but based on the UNET․com comp, I still aimed for at least $100K. After some back-and-forth via the broker, it became clear the buyer’s ceiling was in the high 5 figures. In the end, I agreed to close at $80,000. Sure, it fell short of the $100K UNET․com record, but it’s still a solid ROI after a long hold — and I’m very happy with the outcome. Thanks to everyone who wished me luck! Fun fact: According to dotDB, “nnet” has 70 exact-match domains (EMDs) registered. For my own pricing benchmarks, I often use a simple rule of thumb: .com price ≈ EMD count × $1,000. So with 70 EMDs, I typically wouldn’t let the name go for less than $70K — and this sale hit that mark nicely.

💥 Sold WorkinBelgium․com for $6,000 This is my 2nd sale in the “Workin + Country” series — after selling WorkinPoland․com for $5,000 last year. What’s interesting is that WorkinBelgium․com was hand-registered this March at Dynadot for just $6.99 — held only 7 months. 😄 I still have WorkinPortugal․com, WorkinIceland․com, WorkinCzechia․com, and WorkinKSA․com — hope to see more nice surprises ahead. A quick note on my philosophy: I started by hand-registering domains 27+ years ago — and still do. My focus has always been on less-competitive, long-tail names that most people overlook but hold unique value for a few. Whenever I sell a hand-reg domain for a few thousand dollars, I reinvest all proceeds into 1-3 stronger names — aiming to double up next time. Like a snowball rolling for decades… now at ~5,000 domains, 99% are .com.

🔥 Sold AromaBottles․com for $3,100, making it my second domain sale of February. (The first one was a whopping $50K sale!) Someone asked me how I profit from hand-registered domain names like AromaBottles․com. Since I have some time today, I’d like to share my experience here on X. Three years ago, I started an experiment using dotDB to identify valuable, niche domains that had just expired. My process was simple: 📌 Analyzed ~100K+ expired .coms daily 📌 Filtered domains with at least one or two registered extensions 📌 If a keyword was taken in other domain extensions, I grabbed the .com—even if I didn’t fully understand its value at the time. This method has paid off. In just three years, with about 1,000 domains from this batch, I’ve sold around 30 names, all through inbound sales—no outbound needed, and every sale has been at least $1,000 or more. Some of my best sales from this experiment: 💰 [________].com – $99,999 (LTO, 60 months ongoing) 💰 NiftyMoments․com – $5,000 💰 CitySurfPark․com – $5,000 💰 Chilcuague․com – $3,200 💰 PotsDeFleurs․com – $3,200 💰 AromaBottles․com – $3,100 💰 Reptur․com – $3,000 💰 Stroopie․com – $3,000 And that’s just a handful of examples. I believe great opportunities still exist. You can try this method yourself to uncover hidden gems. Instead of chasing buyers, I’d rather spend my time finding the next valuable domain. 💎

My first domain sale in February! Had a BIN price set at $100,000, but after a long negotiation with the buyer, I finally agreed to $50,000. I will announce the domain after securing the payment. This year has been great for me—$120k in sales in January (including a $100k LTO) and $50k so far this month. So, my total sales volume for 2025 has reached $170k in less than two months. 😀

🚀 The $50,000 sale has finally gone through! I can now reveal that it's Satay․com. Huge thanks to the Afternic team for their fantastic help and negotiation. To celebrate, we had satay skewers for dinner tonight. 🔥 Short & meaningful .com domains are rare digital assets—like prime real estate on a bustling street. Their value keeps rising! With this sale, I’ve got more budget to acquire good names. 💰 If you own a .com with a dotDB EMD number of 30+, and it’s a single word or a valuable two-word generic term, DM me or drop me an email at ken@longtail.com. I may offer $3K–$10K each for the right names. @afternic #domainsales

Thank you all for the birthday wishes! I can now reveal that the domain I sold for $22,000 is Kanav․com (KanAV․com). This domain has an unusual story. The word Kanav carries rich cultural and religious meaning in India—seen as a name tied to wisdom, beauty, or even Lord Krishna. But when split as “Kan AV”, it takes on a very different meaning: in China, it’s interpreted as “Watch AV (adult videos),” a highly searched keyword. I owned this domain for about a year. While parked at ParkingCrew, it made around $1 per day for several months, likely from 200–300 daily visitors from China searching for adult videos. Later, Google’s policy changes killed most of that revenue, so I redirected the traffic to my board game site Gomoku.com—and fun fact, the site has now hosted over 60,000 games in just 3 months! About 3 weeks ago, I listed Kanav․com on Afternic for a $30,000 BIN, and surprisingly it sold within a month for $22,000. A lucky outcome! I still don’t know whether the buyer acquired it for its Indian meaning or its adult keyword angle. 😅 P.S. I’m always acquiring meaningful Indian one-word .com domains (e.g., Badam․com, Pushkar․com, Vijaya․com, Himachal․com) with dotDB EMD counts of 30+. I’m generally willing to pay several thousand dollars per name, and I’ll happily offer a 10% broker fee if you bring me a deal that matches my criteria. Thank you! @afternic

Sold OpendoorProperties․com for $3,000. 💵 But behind this domain is a bittersweet story… Back in 2020, I bought the name and discovered a U.S. real estate startup, Opendoor․com, that claimed to use AI to flip houses. Type in your address, and they’d give you an instant offer—close in as little as 3 days. (This was before ChatGPT, when “AI buying homes” sounded futuristic. Later I learned the buzzword: iBuying.) Because of this domain, I ended up investing nearly $50K in $OPEN stock—buying all the way down from $10 to $7. I finally cut losses at around –30%, only to watch it crash further to $0.51/share. In the end, I lost about $15K. To make it worse, just last year I almost let this domain expire. But when I checked dotDB and saw it still had solid numbers, I renewed it for one more year. Luckily I didn’t drop it—because now, after holding for 5 years, I finally sold it for $3K. It’s not enough to erase the stock losses, but at least it patched back a little of the scar. More importantly, it taught me a few priceless lessons: 👉 Don’t invest in things you don’t truly understand. 👉 Stick to domains—they’ve always been your best investment. 👉 Let data, not emotions, guide your investment decisions.

Never been to India, but love its culture, and my interest has led me to sell many domains for good amounts to Indian corporations. For example, I acquired BharatExpress.com for $10 and sold it for $15K in just a few months. It would be great for me to visit India someday.

After extended negotiations, the domain was finally sold today for $10,000. The term "Battle Barge" is commonly used in games and sci-fi movies. I discovered this domain on dotDB, where it is registered in 10+ extensions and has many longer versions taken in both .com and .games, that’s why I said it is a game related domain in my original tweet. My first sale through Dan's Installment Plans has been completed, with the buyer being from India. (Namaste!) I began my career as a pharmacist in 2009 and transitioned into entrepreneurship 2 years later. To date, I have sold several 5-figure domains that were related to pharmacy. For example, a few years ago, I sold PharmacistOnDemand․com for $10,000 USD.

Sold SriLankaETA․com for $5,000. I originally hand-registered this domain through Name․com in 2019, and after holding it for 6 years, I’m glad to finally pass it on to its new owner. This domain is exactly the kind of long-tail name I like—something that may seem meaningless to most people but carries significant value to a small, specific group. Domains like this usually don’t face much competition, since very few domain investors are willing to acquire and hold them long-term—almost none, aside from myself. For example, I also own eVisaTurkiye․com. If you’re curious about what the 'Long Tail' strategy means, you can check out my site at LongTail.com to learn more. Today has been an incredibly lucky day—I managed to sell 3 domains within just 6 hours. First came TajMall․com, then SriLankaETA․com, and just when I thought that was already great, a third sale came through on Sedo for an even higher amount than SriLankaETA․com. Once the payment is secured, I’ll announce which domain it was. @afternic

✅ Finally closed the deal! Oasis․tv sold for $6,000! The sale agreement was made on Sep 9—the same day I had 3 sales. I thought this one might fall through since the buyer took about a week to pay, but luckily it went through. I’d been negotiating since Aug 21. Buyer started at $1,000, quickly raised to $5,000, then stalled at $6,000. I hoped for at least $10K, but with such slow replies I decided to compromise. $6K is still a solid ROI for a .TV I’ve held for 20+ years. Not bad at all. P.S. Wonder if the buyer is Oasis band… they seem active again lately. 🎸😅

This is the best Christmas gift to me! 🎁Sold ILoveMilano․com for $4,500 through @afternic! 🎉 The keyword "I Love Milano" has 3 EMDs taken according to dotDB and 210 monthly searches. Fun fact: this isn’t my first Milano-related domain sale—sold a "Milano 2015" domain for around $1K before! Last year in Irvine, CA, I became hooked on Milano chocolate cookies. Every time we went to Target in Spectrum Center, I’d grab a few bags to bring home. Now, they're my favorite snack in Taiwan too! 😋 So I truly Love Milano! Sold Incre․com for $3,000. I had held this domain for 12 years. "Incre" is likely short for "increase" or "increment" and has 31 exact match domains (EMDs) according to dotDB.com. Normally, I wouldn’t sell a domain with that many EMDs for just $3,000. But over the past decade, I only received 2 or 3 offers for it ranging from $100 to $850. So while I may have undersold, I’m okay with the deal. I can now use the funds to acquire a better name and hold it for another decade, aiming for a 5-figure sale. 😃

I sold two domains today. One is DigiSnow․com for $2k, and the other is still waiting for the buyer to make the payment. I will reveal what it is once the payment is secured. I also bought several domains today, and my favorite one is LawService․com. I’m not sure if the singular or plural is better, but LawService has more registered EMDs than LawServices according to dotDB. dotdb.com/search?keyword=law… Additionally, the search volume for the singular version is slightly higher than the plural version based on Google Trends, so I am very satisfied with this acquisition. Another interesting thing is that I went on vacation to Japan last week. During my self-driving trip, I happened to witness the cherry blossoms in full bloom and falling. After returning from my trip, I was fortunate enough to acquire Hanafubuki․com, a domain that represents the beautiful scene of cherry blossoms floating and falling in the wind. 🌸 (The last photo is one I took of the beautiful cherry blossom scenery along the road in Japan.)

Just sold MedDream․com for $6,300! 🎉 This is my first domain sale in June. I held it for 10 years, and it eventually paid off. Medical and India-related .com domains have been the best performing niches in my portfolio in recent years. Especially those with 10 or more TLDs taken according to dotDB. For example, MedDream is taken in 15 TLDs. With this count of EMDs registered, I would normally sell for at least $5k each. dotdb.com/search?keyword=med… By the way, I also acquired BharatHealth․com this week, which I like very much. 😃

For some reason, in the past few months, the Indonesian geo .com domains I invested in have been selling one after another, yielding a good return on these specific geo-targeted domain investments. We often hear about successful domain investment stories, but not many share the ones that didn’t go so well. Here are a few of my biggest fails from nearly 28 years of domain investing: Resimleri․com - $2,527 (2007) I bought this Turkish domain, which means "pictures/photos", after seeing a lot of Google search results. But it doesn't actually work by itself – it needs other words in front of it. After 18 years, I’m letting it go in 2025. 🤦‍♂️ Blogger․info - $2,000 (2004) I bought this domain during the .info and blogging boom, hoping Google would buy it like they did with Blogger․com. 20 years later, .info and blogging aren't as popular, and I dropped it, only to watch it get auctioned at Dynadot for $206 last year. 😬 AsSeenOn․TV - $1,200 (2011) I bought this domain because I remembered the $5.1 million sale of AsSeenOnTV․com in the 2000s. But with the rise of streaming and online shopping, TV shopping lost its popularity. It got a few offers early on, but nothing in the last 10 years. 🤷‍♂️ ChocolateTruffle․com - $2,700 (2006) I bought this domain just because I love chocolate 🍫. I didn’t consider market demand or the difference between singular and plural. After 19 years, I’ve only received a few $100 offers. Still holding it, but I might sell at a loss. 😬 Looking back, if I’d been more careful with my investments and strictly referred to data like dotDB, I’d probably be seeing at least 10x the value today for this money. But hey, failures teach us important lessons, right? Anyone else have domain investment horror stories? Please share!

Got an email from Afternic today – Tomilo․com sold for $2,000! 🎉 I grabbed this domain back in 2014 using Dynadot’s Drop Catch service. Just sold the 5-letter brandable domain Gadio․com for $1,000 to a Brazilian entrepreneur. I originally bought it back in 2014, thinking it could be a blend of Game + Radio. Sold CantSitStill․com for $5,000 🎉 “Can’t Sit Still” can describe kids with ADHD… but it also fits travel perfectly — that feeling of can’t wait to go. Maybe it even has more meanings. Why did I invest in this name? Because dotDB showed multiple non-.com extensions registered, plus variants like cant-sit-still․com, cantsitstilladventures․com, cantsitstillclub․com, icantsitstill․com, etc. When many longer versions exist, the shorter exact-match .com is almost always the most valuable. And for long-tail names like this, only .com can realistically reach a $5K sale — other extensions simply won’t. .com is still the king. 👑 A friend of mine also used a similar method — a hand-reg .com he bought last year just sold for $15,000, his personal record. There are still countless opportunities in domain investing. It all depends on how you discover them! 🚀 #DomainInvesting #Afternic @afternic

This is the most expensive slice of pizza I’ve ever bought 🍕💸 I love this name for a few reasons: 1️⃣ Pizza․com once sold for over $2.6M in 2008. 2️⃣ “Italian Pizza” has huge search volume — 165K global monthly searches (60K+ from the US) per dotDB Keyword Insights 3️⃣ Italy alone has 20,000+ pizzerias, plus countless worldwide, not to mention frozen pizza exporters, training schools & consulting firms. Lots of potential end-users here. Do you love Italian pizza? Or own any pizza-related domains? Share them!

I acquired the domain GingerTea․com for $1,000 in 2011 and sold it for $5,000 about 4 and a half years later in 2015 to a Belgian tea producer who sold organic ginger tea online. However, it seems they went out of business, and the domain was dropped last week. I tried to buy it back by placing a bid of $1,500 on DropCatch․com, thinking that, after almost 10 years, there should be some inflation. Unfortunately, I was finally outbid by someone else with a bid of $1,600. I have always been lucky with tea-related domains; in the past, I have sold certain tea-related domains for high 4 figures to low 5 figures, and I still own many tea-related domains such as GinsengTea․com. I think GingerTea․com could sell for more than $5,000 nowadays easily to the right buyer. Congratulations to the new owner of the domain, and good luck with it! 😌

Been with Sedo for over 20 years, and it’s where my first 5-figure sale happened—SantaClaus․info! 🎅 This sale funded my university tuition and gave me the capital to seriously start my domain flipping business. Every Christmas, I remember this moment with gratitude. It was Santa who helped me kickstart my journey! 🎄 Oh, and the subsequent FreePorn․TV deal also gave me quite a boost! 😂 Up until now, I've sold over 300 domains through Sedo and earned more than 220,000 euros from Sedo Parking. I'm truly grateful for Sedo. I started all of this from scratch, with just a few dozen dollars in funding, and now I’ve earned over a million dollars from domains.

Looking back at 2024, my domain sales totaled around $100K, with a 3-letter .com deal accounting for nearly half of that. Over the past few years, my sales have consistently fallen in a similar range. While it doesn't compare to super successful investors like @abmakrani or @TonyNames, domain investing is more of a side hobby for me, as my main focus is digital marketing and running websites and SaaS businesses. It's been a rewarding side hustle and additional income. This year, I turned down offers worth over $200K, including 10+ 5-figure offers. One interesting offer was from a government seeking to acquire a keyword+country .com domain, but I declined when their final offer was around $10K. Another was for GetTrained․com, which had a low 5-figure offer, but I held out for mid-5-figures, and the deal fell through. Interestingly, I recently saw that UEFA launched a new CPR training site using Get-Trained.com, and I can't help but wonder if the buyer was UEFA. However, I have no regrets. Domains like GetTrained․com have so much potential, maybe even something related to AI, as AI models and data need to be trained. Here's to aiming for $200K+ in domain sales next year! Wishing everyone great returns in domain investing!

Just acquired the domain EditVideo․com 🎬 Over the past few years, my domain acquisitions have shifted. Instead of focusing solely on resale value, I now also pay close attention to whether a name carries real development potential. That way, even if a project doesn’t work out, the domain itself remains a valuable asset. This mindset was inspired by domain developers like Peter Askew (@searchbound), whose work I’ve long admired — he has built several successful businesses on exact-match .com domains such as VidaliaOnions.com, Onions.com, and DudeRanch.com (a business he recently exited after selling it again). Now I’m brainstorming how to build out EditVideo․com as a SaaS platform. However, video editing is far more technically demanding than anything I’ve independently developed before. For example, back in June I launched Gomoku.com, a simple eastern board game, which has already accumulated over 100,000 games played in ~3 months. With EditVideo․com, my goal is to start with a lightweight version — not overly complex, but practical enough to solve real user needs. For an MVP, I’m thinking: 1️⃣ Trim videos ✂️ 2️⃣ Add subtitles 📝 3️⃣ Merge multiple clips 🎞️ 4️⃣ Compress file size (lower video quality) 📉 👉 What other simple but practical features would you add? Also, if anyone has recommendations for reliable AI video APIs that could speed up development, I’d love to hear them. Any comments, ideas, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated 🙏

I picked up AiLearning․com back in 2012, when AI was still just a term in science fiction. Fast forward to today—"AI Learning" is registered in 100 extensions. According to dotDB, only about 36,417 keywords have surpassed the 100-extension mark. That’s the benchmark I use to determine whether a .com is truly ultra-premium. (You can access the full list here: dotdb.com/top-keywords.) Right now, I own 5 .com domains with 100+ extensions taken. I’m always looking to acquire more, but .com domains that have reached this threshold are becoming increasingly difficult to buy—most are developed and actively used by end users. The number of such domains still available on the market and owned by domain investors is likely fewer than 10,000.

A few days ago, I acquired a pure geo domain through a private deal—an exact match .com for a popular travel destination in Asia. After the transaction was completed, the seller sent me this message: "Thanks mate. I hope you find something to do with this. My father worked on this site for 12 years until his passing. This fed us for several years. Good Luck!" Reading this really hit me. I dug through the domain’s past on the Wayback Machine, and saw that the site, with its rich content and strategic ad placements, had supported their family for years. It was an emotional moment, realizing I had essentially bought the legacy of the seller’s father. Thankfully, the father ensured his children could access the domain after his passing, instead of letting it expire. The seller was able to sell it to me, giving them some financial relief. This made me reflect on my own domains. With so many valuable assets, how will I pass them on to my children? At 39, with young kids in preschool, I feel there's still time before I teach them about domain management. But I’ve made sure to leave my account details somewhere my wife can access, just in case something unexpected happens. That way, she can still monetize the valuable domains instead of watching them expire. Since this is a serious topic, I won’t be revealing the domain I acquired, even though it's a great pure geo domain. However, I might continue the seller’s father's work and bring the site back to life in a new form, continuing to provide helpful travel information. Also, I’m curious—Have you made any plans for the inheritance of your domains or digital assets? Would love to hear your thoughts!

If you own a quality .com domain and have basic web development skills, it can be turned into affiliate leads. For instance, with my domain, KrugerSafari.com, all I did was set up a simple one-page website without any additional promotion or marketing. Recently, I received an order totaling USD 1,639.04. If the person completes the journey, I will earn USD 131.12 from this single transaction. This is better than domain parking, don't you think? 😎

I've recently added 3 great .com domains to my portfolio: Karts․com Kart racing is an extremely popular sport worldwide, with professional racing leagues and many well-known games based on go-kart themes, such as Mario Kart. Freetown․com Freetown is the capital city of Sierra Leone with a population of over 1.2 million people, and the domain carries a strong sense of freedom and openness, making it a compelling brand name. Before this, I already owned 10 nation's capital city .com domains, and this is the 11th. Matoke․com Over 100 million people in East Africa rely on Matoke bananas as a staple food, and the domain carries strong brand potential. I’m really excited about these 3 new acquisitions! What are your thoughts on these domains? 😀

Sold 4 Indonesian city/town names in .com for a total of $4,600! This is one of the more unique situations I've encountered. The buyer, clearly from Indonesia, seems to be collecting Indonesian geo .com domains. They placed offers on different days for each of these names. I’ve received offers from them for a few more Indonesian geo .com domains, but we couldn’t agree on the price for the remaining ones. As a huge travel enthusiast, I started heavily diving into geo domains about 4 years ago during the pandemic when I was stuck at home. It became my way to explore the world while researching geo domains. I’ve strategically acquired several country .com names, over 10 capital city .coms, and top 100 cities from countries like India and Indonesia. I’ve always been passionate about pure geo .com domains because they’re measurable—population, GDP per capita, tourist arrivals, and other data points guide their value. With dotDB’s EMDs and Domain Match, it’s easy to gauge the market value of a pure geo .com. If you have any pure geo .com domains with at least an EMD of 10 on dotDB, feel free to DM me. I might be interested in buying! #GeoDomains #DomainInvesting #Wanderlust

I believe that after the AI boom, the Humanoid & Robot era will follow. So, I hand-registered HumanoidFactory․com in 2023, along with 10 other humanoid-related .coms. Fast forward 2 years, 16 domains with 'Humanoid Factory' are now registered! I always enjoy hand-registering domains this way in promising niches and watching non .coms and longer .coms get registered over time. My method: Export robot-related domains from dotDB, sort by EMD(Exact Match Domain) numbers, swap 'Robot' for 'Humanoid', and find available .coms. You can use this method for any promising niche, not just humanoids!

I've just acquired the domain DigitalValley․com. I really like this name, and it will certainly be the name of my next company. The term 'Digital Valley' sounds like a place focused on digital technology or innovation, somewhat similar to how 'Silicon Valley' is centered on semiconductors and technological innovation. This year, I've already spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on domain acquisitions. Although the market seems quite cold now, I strongly believe it's the best time to buy. Before this, I already had over a dozen .com domain names ending with 'Valley', including KashmirValley․com. I also recently sold an Italian geo domain, ItriaValley․com, for a four-figure sum.

Acquired the domain SavvyDeals․com, which has strong branding potential for discount sites offering coupons, money-saving tips, and deal-related content. Why Did I Acquire This Domain? The keyword "Savvy Deals" is highly popular, with 21 domain extensions registered under this name, according to dotDB. Additionally, 140 domains contain the phrase "Savvy Deal," indicating significant interest in this keyword. Typically, when a keyword appears in such a large number of domains, it suggests a market with 100+ potential buyers—businesses that might consider upgrading from a longer version of their domain to an exact-match, premium name like SavvyDeals․com. Furthermore, a dotDB search reveals several developed websites with similar names, such as: SavvyDeal.com SavvyDealz.com SavvySmartDeals.com These existing websites demonstrate the commercial value of the "Savvy Deals" brand, reinforcing my belief that SavvyDeals․com holds strong resale or development potential. Another key factor in my decision was the success of SlickDeals.net, a well-known deals and coupon website with massive traffic. I believe SavvyDeals․com has the potential to be developed into a similar platform, making it a valuable investment. Last but not least, SavvyDeals․com was previously sold for $880 at GoDaddy Expired Auctions in 2019 according to @NameBio . This month, I acquired it for a lower price, making it an even more valuable investment. 😁

Astana․com just closed at $23,000 in a SnapNames expired auction. I was in the chase, but the final price ran past my limit so I stepped out before the bidding war. Astana is the capital of Kazakhstan—and with only ~200 capital city .coms in existence, these names sit right below pure country .coms in rarity and value. Dynadot has been rocking recently! I received another direct offer for a domain I've never listed for sale. The term 'keiai' is a Japanese word that literally means 'respect and affection'. However, I’m not sure if it has anything to do with AI, as it ends in AI—perhaps 'Kei AI'? Coincidentally, there's a health care center in LA with the same name "Kei-AI", using keiai-la․com as their official domain. @Dynadot

Bought a 5-letter .com domain for $2,000 last week and parked it on ParkingCrew. It’s consistently getting 200+ daily visits, generating around $1.10 in parking revenue per day, or $400 a year. Feels like owning a stock with a 20% dividend. In about 5 years, I’ll have my initial investment back. This kind of domain is my favorite. It has meaning, generates passive income to support itself, and I'm not in a hurry to sell it. It is a Hindi term starting with 'Ka'. I really wish it were Karma․com, but unfortunately, it's not. My wife bought some toys for our two daughters as Christmas gifts from the internet. Today, the package arrived, and I noticed it was from Fun․com. What a domain name! This led me to research the company behind it and I found out it's a sole proprietorship based in Minnesota, founded by Tom Fallenstein. I even came across a 2015 article here at sramanamitra.com/2015/02/23/…. It mentioned that Tom initially started his online business in 2002 selling clothes, with the domain name FlapperCostumes․com, an exactly matched keyword domain. As his business grew, in 2008, he invested $1 million in purchasing HalloweenCostumes․com, turning it into a site specializing in Halloween costumes. Surprisingly, the domain name paid for itself in just 9 months. He then acquired TShirts․com in 2010 for $1.2 million and later bought Fun․com for over $2.2 million (exact price undisclosed) around 2013, focusing on developing Fun․com into a hobby e-commerce site. In August this year, Tom even acquired Halloween․com. His foresight in brand building, especially using exactly matched keyword domains, is truly impressive!

Just sold a South American city .com, which is a popular tourist destination! After the deal, I learned something wild: the buyer told me this was his third time buying the domain! It turns out he lost it twice before by forgetting to renew. 😅 He didn’t mention this during negotiations, but his emails were sincere, polite, and he’s clearly an end-user in the travel industry. I love seeing pure geo .coms land with end-users who’ll put them to great use, so I sold it at a very fair price. Win-win! Here’s hoping he doesn’t have to buy this domain a fourth time! P.S. I’ve got a ton of similar Latin American geo .coms in my portfolio, and guess what? I also own Ciudades․com, the Spanish word for “cities”! 🌎

Over the past 20 years, I have made hundreds of thousands of dollars from domain parking. It was once my main source of income, but with Google's dominance and the rise of apps, direct navigation to domains has significantly decreased. Today, domain parking is no longer my primary income. Recently, though, I encountered a unique case. In 2019, I spent about $30 to acquire a .com domain and parked it at ParkingCrew. Since then, it has had minimal type-in traffic, just enough to cover the renewal fees each year. However, this month, there was a sudden surge in traffic, and it is now earning about $13.34 per day, bringing in around $5,000 annually. After some research, I discovered that a new consumer product brand with the same name as my domain keyword was launched in the United States. This situation is like hitting the lottery, but opportunities like this are extremely rare and hard to come by. 😄

Last month in New Zealand, I saw "Kia Ora" everywhere—on billboards and even on my Air New Zealand flight, where the cabin crew greeted passengers with it. That’s how I learned it means "Hello" in Māori. Curious, I checked KiaOra.com and saw it was for sale. I made offers from $5K to $7K, and after several emails, the owner dropped the price from $25K to $12K. Thinking I could push it lower—maybe even $7K—I held off, hoping the seller might cave. Today, when I was ready to negotiate again, I found out the domain had already been sold to a U.S. company, which had been using JoinKiaOra.com. A missed chance, but hey—such is life. 🤷‍♂️

Thrilled to announce that I’ve finally acquired the domain CaliforniaTravel․com after nearly two years of negotiation with the seller. California holds a special place in my heart. My very first trip to the U.S. was in 2011. I landed in San Francisco, visited UC Berkeley, and even gave a startup pitch at the Haas School of Business. Fast forward to 2023, I returned with my wife and two daughters for a summer camp in the Greater Los Angeles area. We spent 3 unforgettable months exploring Disneyland, Universal Studios, Beverly Hills and Santa Monica Pier. Pure magic ✨ Can’t wait to visit again, or maybe even live there one day. As for the domain itself, there have been some comparable sales. The most notable one was SanFranciscoTravel․com, which sold for $35,000 in 2015 according to @NameBio. Also, I believe OregonTravel․com, NevadaTravel․com, and ArizonaTravel․com were recently sold for 5 figures each, though the exact prices weren’t disclosed. These were reportedly sold by ZeroFat.com, who owns almost all the other [US State] + Travel .com domains. Last but not least, credit to @zemeryellis, who owns and built FloridaTravel.com. It’s a fantastic site and was a big inspiration for me. That’s actually what motivated me to go after CaliforniaTravel.com in the first place. Hopefully, I’ll be able to turn it into something just as great.

Domains like these are in high demand—several StudyinCountry․com domains have sold for 5 figures, such as StudyinEgypt․com for $10,000 in 2021. These geo-targeted niche domains are typically purchased by official educational programs or private institutions focused on recruiting international students, making them quite valuable. I also own about 5 domains of this type myself.

Thrilled to announce that I've finally acquired the domain Sagarmatha․com!🏔️This is one of my most significant domain acquisitions for several reasons: 1. Sagarmatha means "Peak of Heaven" – the Nepali name for Mount Everest, the highest peak in the world. It holds immense significance globally. 2. Registered since Jan 1994, it’s now my oldest domain at over 31 years. 3. I once registered Sagarmatha․info at 19, dreaming of owning the .com for over 20 years – and now that dream has come true! 4. Famous brands like Kathmandu (outdoor gear from NZ) and The North Face, both inspired by the spirit of mountaineering and the Himalayas, add even more value to this iconic name. A bittersweet part of this journey is remembering James Armstrong, the original owner, who passed away around 2021. He was a pioneer behind Netscape and an early Twitter engineer. His personal website once lived at this domain. I hope to carry on the legacy of Sagarmatha․com and continue pursuing new heights. 🙏

In 2012, I hand registered 10,000 domains at $85,000. This resulted in a small profit from parking, barely high enough to break even 1 year later. Then I let go of 90% of them but kept renewing the remaining profitable ones. These names still make me about $1,000/month nowadays.
Would you rather own a domain name portfolio: 1. Selling $1,000/month of domains, or 2. Generating $1,000/month in parking revenue?

I'm thrilled to announce that I've acquired the domain TaxBreak․com, which has been registered since February 28, 1995. This makes it the second oldest domain in my portfolio, at approximately 28 years old. Fun fact: All domains registered before September 14, 1995 were free of charge. To date, I own 4 domains from before that time. I bought this domain from its initial owner. They had run an accounting firm since the 90s in the United States and only ceased operations last year, leading them to sell this domain. This provided me the chance to obtain it. I've secured all my premium domains in much the same way, via private acquisitions. 😃
