इस पेड़ को " बावनी इमली " के नाम से जाना जाता है। इसे बावनी इमली इसलिए कहा जाता हैं क्योंकि इसी पेड़ पर 1858 में क्रांतिकारी जोधा सिंह अटैया सहित कुल 51 क्रांतिकारियों को अंग्रेजों ने फांसी पर चढ़ा दिया था। संयोग से सभी की जाति राजपूत थी। इनकी लाशे कुल 37 दिनों तक इस पेड़ पर लटकती रही पर किसी ने भी इन्हें उतारा नहीं अंग्रेजों के डर से। 38 वे दिन एक क्रांतिकारी ने रात को चुपके से सभी सड़ चुकी लाशों को उतारा और शिवराजपुर में गंगा नदी के किनारे इनका अंतिम संस्कार किया।
ये नरसंहार जलियांवाला बाग हत्याकांड होने से पहले तक इस देश का सबसे बड़ा नरसंहार था। अफसोस ये हैं कि इसके बारे में लोकल लोगों के अलावा किसी को भी पता नहीं है।
ये जगह उत्तर प्रदेश के फतेहपुर जिले में पड़ती हैं। लालबहादुर शास्त्री के बेटे जब यहां से सांसद बने और तब पत्रकार विनोद दुबे ने इस मामले को ऊपर उठाया ताकि इस जगह को पहचान मिले।
लेकिन अन्य नेताओं की हील हवाली ने इस इसी हाल पे छोड़ दिया। फिर पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री बीपी सिंह यहां से दो बार सांसद बने। लोगो को उम्मीद थी इस जगह को , क्रांतिकारियों की पहचान से जोड़कर एक नई पहचान मिलेगी लेकिन उन्होंने भी कुछ नहीं किया।
यह बावन लोग कोई राजा महराजा नहीं थे। सामान्य मध्यमवर्गीय - निम्न मध्यमवर्गीय लोग थे जो झांसी की रानी लक्ष्मीबाई से प्रेरित होकर आजादी की लड़ाई में कूदे थे।
जोधा सिंह अटैया ने अपनी फांसी से पूर्व सरकारी खजाना लूटा था और कर्नल पॉवेल की हत्या की थी। क्यों की थी हत्या ..........??
इसका जवाब उनके पास तो बिल्कुल भी नहीं होगा जो, सुबह उठते के साथ रात सोने तक सोशल मीडिया पर राजपूतों या अन्य जातियों को मुगलों और अंग्रेजों का चमचा कहने में पूरा वक्त गुजार देते है।
