Lots of folks responding to my last tweet with the opinion that this console generation has been disappointing overall.
And you know what? I wouldn't disagree. Not that there haven't been awesome games – 2023 rocked! – but the best stuff this gen has largely been third-party.
Sony has delivered a couple great sequels that haven't quite lived up to their generation-defining originals (GoW Ragnarok and Spider-Man 2), along with a mixed bag of smaller first- and third-party games.
Microsoft, meanwhile, hasn't really knocked anything completely out of the park yet either, aside from Forza Horizon 5. Halo Infinite was excellent but not quite 10/10 legendary, Starfield was good but not spectacular, and the less said about Redfall the better.
As others in response to my last post pointed out, the pandemic really has screwed this generation up. Here's to a better second half of the generation for everyone!
