🚨I have reports of seniors in multiple AZ counties who were denied the right to vote, despite being a 10-20 year registered 4/4 voter, and being required to provide a birth certificate or passport to vote. These new requirements were applied in the last few weeks, with little time to fix. These are NOT noncitizens. One is an 87 year old man who had to quickly find his birth certificate to avoid disenfranchisement. I am all for DPOC, but not unknowingly sprung on voters who have been registered for years, decades even. Right-wing influencers, @JenAFifield is fighting the good fight here. We are suing to have all 15 counties utilize federal statutes that have been in effect for nearly thirty years, 8 U.S.C. § 1373(c) and 8 U.S.C. § 1644, to obtain information about the citizenship/immigration status of federal-only voters (those who only checked a box claiming citizenship). State law requires Arizona counties use all available resources to confirm citizenship. These resources are available through DHS. So why are some counties resisting?
