Our story will be out Monday
It's election season and the Tyee, an NDP-aligned outlet, is being deployed to distract voters from Eby's disastrous record by producing "stories" in bad faith.
To this end, I'm going to address this nonsense here.
The attempt to link my social media interactions with Lauren Southern to some grand conspiracy is a ridiculous smear tactic typical of outlets like The Tyee, who are more interested in hit pieces than honest journalism.
Southern, like many controversial public figures, has a wide-reaching presence on social media. Interaction does not equate to endorsement, and suggesting otherwise is a lazy guilt-by-association tactic that’s more fitting for a tabloid than serious journalism. It’s disappointing but not surprising that The Tyee would resort to digging through old social media posts by staffers who aren’t up for election instead of addressing the real issues facing British Columbians, like rising crime and housing crises.
In the past decade, I’ve responded to literally thousands of people on Twitter, many of whom I do not agree with on almost anything let alone everything. Unlike David Eby, who has consistently failed to take responsibility for his policies’ negative impacts on communities, I am not afraid to have conversations with people across the political spectrum. The Tyee and their ilk should spend more time scrutinizing the government’s failures rather than playing political gotcha games that have zero relevance to the real concerns of the people of British Columbia.
Labeling someone as a white nationalist without credible evidence is not only irresponsible but plays right into the divisive narrative that David Eby’s government and his media supporters are notorious for pushing. Instead of obsessing over social media interactions, perhaps The Tyee should hold Eby accountable for his disastrous policies that have hurt countless British Columbians. If Eby spent half the time addressing his government’s failures that his allies spend digging through Twitter, maybe BC would be in better shape.
In terms of this DOJ indictment. This is just another baseless attempt to discredit individuals by association. The fact that The Tyee and other media aligned with David Eby are more focused on a U.S. DOJ indictment that has nothing to do with BC’s pressing issues tells you everything you need to know about their priorities.
They are desperate to distract from the BC NDP’s failures on crime, housing, and healthcare. It’s time to stop the smears and focus on what really matters: fixing the mess that David Eby has created in this province.
That being said. Anyone who is caught illegally taking money from a foreign state to promote their agenda is a traitor and should be treated as such.
